The most important thing when loading laundry is to control the weight of clothes added to the drum for one work cycle. To check the brushes, remove the electric motor from the housing, unscrew the retaining bolts on the sides of the part, and then remove the graphite rods from the brushes. Even if only one brush is worn down and the difference between the elements is a few millimeters, both brushes still need to be replaced.

After the brushes, you should check the stator winding, which we'll again need a multimeter for. Carefully test each turn of the wiring to find any shorts. Also, pay attention to any burning smell that may be emanating from the motor. If the winding is damaged, the electric motor will lose power, preventing it from spinning the drum to the maximum speed required for a thorough spin. If there's a problem with the winding, there's no point in rewinding the motor; it's cheaper and faster to simply buy a new one, choosing one that's compatible with your Indesit machine.
