Indesit washing machine won't turn off
The "Cotton" cycle takes two hours to wash bedding. The "Quick Wash" cycle allows you to restore cleanliness and freshness to any item in just thirty minutes. At least, that's how long it takes for the program to complete (assuming the machine is working properly). In some cases, an Indesit washing machine won't turn off even after three or more cycles. What causes this problem? Let's figure it out!
There is a problem with the washing machine's drainage system.
One of the common reasons for Indesit malfunctioning is an error in connecting the equipment to the sewer system. In particular, the drain hose must not be placed at a height of less than 50 centimeters. If this requirement is ignored, water will drain immediately after entering the appliance's tank. The heating element will heat up, but will be unable to heat the endless flow of water. The result is obvious: excessive water consumption, heating element fire, and the need for frequent pumping of the cesspool or septic tank.
How can you check if the drain hose is installed correctly? Take a tape measure and measure the distance between the floor and the highest point of the hose. If it's less than 50 centimeters, the washing machine needs to be reconnected. You can completely avoid the problem of improper drainage by seeking professional help.
Control board
Problems with the machine shutting off after washing can be caused by a faulty control module. In this case, the machine continues washing until the power is cut off. Or, even worse, a short circuit occurs, permanently damaging the control module.
It's impossible to fix this type of problem yourself. If you encounter it, you'll need to call a technician who can disassemble the Indesit, diagnose its circuit board, and perform the necessary repairs.
Let's pay attention to the heating element
A prolonged wash cycle may be due to a faulty heating element. If it's broken, the water will either not heat up at all or will take longer to heat up. This, in turn, will delay the start and increase the overall duration of the wet wash cycle!
How can I check the functionality of an electric heater? It is necessary:
- disassemble the machine;
- inspect the heating element wires;
- measure the resistance of the heating element.

If any malfunctions are detected, the faulty part should be replaced with a new one. The heater cannot be repaired.
Important! Indesit's modern technical solutions allow you to diagnose a heating element problem without disassembling the appliance. Simply look for the error code F08 on the display, indicating a faulty electric heater.
Debris plug in the filter or hose
If your washer takes a long time to drain, the problem lies with the filter and drain hose. Over time, these components become clogged. When this happens, the machine can't drain the water from the tank quickly.
What should you do? First and foremost, experts recommend cleaning the drain filter (located at the bottom of the appliance). This procedure should be performed at least once a month. This is the only way to prevent mold and bacteria from growing on the appliance's internal surfaces, as well as equipment failure.
The hose clogs much less frequently than the drain filter. If, despite this, the hose is the cause of your Indesit's malfunction, you'll need to contact a specialist. Otherwise, you could face flooding in your home.
