Which is better: LG or Atlant washing machine?

Which is better, an LG or an Atlant washing machine?When choosing a washing machine, buyers inevitably pay attention to the brand name. Some manufacturers immediately inspire confidence, while others sow doubt. This leads to endless comparisons of machines from different brands, studying reviews, and, of course, the characteristics of each specific model. Let's compare washing machines from two well-known brands. We'll figure out whether an LG or Atlant washing machine is better, and what their advantages and disadvantages are.

Let's compare the characteristics of the machines

What's the best place to start when evaluating washing machines? Today's home appliance market offers a huge variety of models, varying in functionality, size, design, water and electricity consumption. To compare washing machines of the LG and Atlant brands, it is first necessary to determine the criteria by which the machines will be compared. Once you've compiled a list of the features that matter most to you, you can head to the well-known website Yandex.Market and start comparing washing machine models. When choosing washing machines, buyers often consider:

  • price;
  • capacity;
  • energy efficiency class;
  • water consumption;
  • number of special washing modes;
  • noise level;
  • engine type.

Atlant is a trademark owned by a Belarusian company, LG is a South Korean brand.

If you don't care which country controls equipment production, then you should conduct your analysis using the criteria described above. So, let's get started.

  1. Price plays a major role when choosing. LG washing machines typically cost around $200 or more. Atlant washing machines are the clear winner here – for $130–$140, you can find a decent unit that combines all the necessary features. While there are only about five LG machines under $220, you can find around 30 Atlant models for the same price.LG washing machines are on average more expensive than Atlant washing machines
  2. Drum capacity. An important parameter to consider when choosing a washing machine. A family of two or three people will benefit from a machine with a maximum load of up to 5 kg of dry laundry. Larger families choose a machine that can handle at least 6-7 kg of laundry per wash. Today, you can buy Atlant washing machines with a maximum capacity of up to 7 kg of laundry. LG washing machines clearly excel here; the brand produces machines capable of washing 12 kg of laundry at a time.
  3. Energy efficiency is also a significant factor. The higher the energy efficiency class, the fewer kilowatts the washing machine will consume per wash cycle. The vast majority of LG models are rated "A+" and "A++." Atlant washing machines are generally rated "A," and occasionally "A+."
  4. Water consumption is a crucial parameter for washing machines. Utility rates are rising, meaning it's best to minimize water consumption. In this regard, Atlantis is more economical than its Korean counterparts, but the difference isn't significant, just 2-3 liters per cycle.
  5. Special cleaning programs. When reviewing washing machines' program selections, choose based on your personal preferences. For some, three programs—Quick Wash, Cotton, and Wool—are sufficient. For others, programs for stain removal, shirts, children's items, sportswear, and more—are important. On average, Atlantis machines have 15-18 programs, while LG machines have 13.
  6. Quiet operation is important to many washing machines. Based on this indicator, the ATLANT and LG washing machines are roughly equal. The former average 59/73 dB, while the latter average 53/73 dB.the noise level is about the same
  7. Direct-drive machines are much more reliable than their belt-driven counterparts. An inverter motor eliminates the need for a belt or brushes, which often wear out and require replacement. Washing machines LG units are mostly equipped with inverter motors, while Atlantes have brushed motors, and in this regard, they are, of course, significantly inferior to their Korean counterparts.

So, if you pay attention to technical specifications, LG automatic machines win. If price is the deciding factor, Atlant is a better choice. You won't find a Korean washing machine for 13-14 thousand rubles, but there are plenty of Belarusian models at that price.

What do users think?

Once you've decided on certain models from the first and second brands, you should read real customer reviews of specific machines.

I'd like to share my review of the LGF2H6HS0E slim washing machine. When we moved into a new apartment, we urgently needed a new washing machine. Our previous "house helper" had been working reliably for ten years, and now it wasn't washing clothes properly. We scoured the internet, visited appliance stores, and listened to friends' opinions.

Ultimately, we decided on a washing machine manufactured under the LG brand, albeit assembled in Russia. The manufacturer guaranteed at least a 10-year service life, but we weren't expecting that much; it lasted at least five years.

I really liked the design – a slim, modern washing machine with touch controls. It's exactly what we needed, as our washing machine is on display in our apartment. Operating the equipment is a pleasure - a light press and everything starts working. However, keep in mind that the touchscreen is incredibly sensitive and can be activated even by accidental touch, so be careful. Incidentally, the manufacturer has included a child lock for the touchscreen buttons.

The washing machine's drum is very spacious, holding up to 7 kg of laundry at a time, despite its narrow size! It features an inverter motor with direct drive. You can also control the washing machine remotely via your smartphone. And most importantly, it truly delivers high-quality washing results! This one removed stains that the previous machine couldn't remove in a single cycle.

Overall, I identified the following as advantages:

  • stylish design;
  • capacity to load 7 kg of laundry;
  • steam treatment function;
  • a large number of options and additions;
  • convenient touch control;
  • the ability to launch processes remotely from a smartphone;
  • excellent washing quality;
  • low consumption of detergents.

The only serious drawback for me so far is the excessively loud spin cycle. When I ran a test wash, which lasted four hours, I couldn't stop raving about how quiet it was. That was until the spin cycle started and the water drained. The first time I used it, I was actually scared by how loud it started growling during the process. So, the machine does a great job, but it can also make a bit of a noise during the spin cycle, so keep that in mind. I'm happy with my new "home helper," and I hope it lasts for years to come.Reviews of LG and Atlant models

In my case, price was a huge factor in choosing a washing machine. My budget was limited, so I chose the affordable ATLANT 50U88. I've been using it since 2011, and my opinions on it are quite mixed.

The build quality and materials used are decent; the rubber seals haven't cracked over time, and the plastic has yellowed slightly, but not even cracked anywhere. On the downside, over the years, the machine has broken down. The sparking motor had to be replaced. Incidentally, the motor, unlike other components, was Italian-made. The washing machine also drains very loudly. Sometimes, the machine can't distribute the items in the drum and simply refuses to spin.

If we talk about the advantages, these are a convenient size, protection from power surges, and price.

Belarusian washing machines are made from high-quality materials, the quality of which has been proven over the years.

I don't recommend this particular model due to its noisy operation, spin-drying issues, and questionable motor. It's better to choose a more reliable option.
