Which is better: LG or Indesit washing machine?

Which is better, an LG or Indesit washing machine?When it comes to choosing a new washing machine, it's easy to get lost in the deluge of information, advice, and recommendations. One thing is crucial: finding a machine as reliable as the ones made before, and at a reasonable price, is practically impossible. However, in today's market, there are still leaders—LG and Indesit. Based on a variety of factors, they enjoy the highest market demand. Considering that buying two washing machines at once is simply not an option—and why bother?—you should choose an LG or Indesit washing machine. So, which should you buy?

Let's compare the equipment according to our criteria

In reality, there can be a million criteria for choosing a washing machine. Based on this, the results will vary. Moreover, the priority of the criteria themselves plays a huge role. For some, quality is more important, regardless of the cost, while others are limited in budget and will be extremely strict about pricing. Generally, the comparison process goes like this: select the relevant factors, open Yandex.Market, enter your search queries into the filters, and then explore the specifications and decide.

The most common criterion is price. Indesit is the undisputed leader here. Most of their models fall in the price range of up to 14,000 rubles. Meanwhile, LG washing machines are much worse off. Almost all of their washing machines cost at least 20,000 rubles, with only one slightly less – the LG FH-0C3ND. Needless to say, it's practically out of stock in stores. LG's most sophisticated models can reach prices in the hundreds of thousands, while Indesit's highest price point is 40,000 rubles. The choice here is obvious.LG FH-0C3ND

Load capacity. Of course, for a single woman, this may not be a crucial factor, but if you're the mother of a family of six, there's no question. It's difficult to say which machine is better, as both LG and Indesit produce models with fairly impressive drum capacities—up to 8 kg. This is generally more than enough, even for a large family. However, it's worth noting that LG has washing machines with drums that hold up to 12 kg. But their prices are also proportionate.

Maximum spin speed. It's not the most common criterion, but it's nonetheless a prominent feature in washing machine specifications, which probably makes sense. In terms of RPM, Indesit is significantly inferior to LG. LG only has a few machines that operate at 1400 RPM and only one at 1600 RPM—the Indesit XWDA 751680X W. Meanwhile, LG has some models programmed for 1600 RPM, which is an advantage.Indesit XWDA 751680X W

An inverter motor. Also known as a "direct drive" motor, it's designed without any additional components, such as drive belts or brushes, which quickly fail and require time-consuming repairs. If you've already encountered the difficulties of brushed motors and are thinking about how good it would be to have an inverter motor, buy an LG one right away.

Currently, all Indesits in Russia are produced without direct drive.

Noise. Some people are very light sleepers, and some have small children. Basically, a noisy washing machine can be a nuisance. However, it's not the brand that matters, but the spin speed. The higher the speed, the louder the machine. So, whether it's an LG or an Indesit, they'll be noisier at the same speed.

Water consumption. No one wants to overpay for water, especially since prices are constantly rising. Those for whom this is crucial can rejoice: both LG and Indesit produce models with a special consumption class that use only about 40-45 liters of water per cycle. This is an excellent figure, since statistically, a person uses much more water in a single shower.

So, in terms of technical parameters, LG washing machines still have the upper hand. They're more modern and advanced. However, they're also more expensive. So if you're on a budget, you'll have to settle for Indesit.

Other parameters influencing the choice

As mentioned above, the balance between the two brands is quite precarious, as the leadership of one brand may be questioned depending on the criteria. Roughly speaking, LG wins by the criteria listed above, but who knows what would have happened with a different set of characteristics. It's likely that for some, after a thorough analysis, Indesit will prove the better choice. What other factors influence the choice?

  • Ratio of dimensions and capacity.
  • Software.
  • Availability of additional functions.
  • The ratio of efficiency and resource costs.

Now let's discuss each of these points in more detail. Dimensions and capacity. A washing machine can take up an unreasonably large amount of space but have a small drum capacity. This is a disadvantage. Based on design, washing machines are divided into two groups: slimline and full-size. Slimline models take up relatively little space and have an average load capacity of 4-6 kg. They are an optimal choice for small families or groups of people living under the same roof. The H x W x D dimensions for such models are typically 85-80 x 32-45 x 60 centimeters.

Full-size models differ from compact ones primarily in their depth. It's twice as deep as narrow machines, starting at 60 centimeters. Consequently, the drum load is extremely high—7 kg and up. Larger models also often feature a full range of functions, while mid-size models offer only the most essential features.

Hence the second criterion: software, namely the availability of various washing programs, the way to interact with them and the entire control panel in general. As a rule, now almost many washing machines are equipped with a display that shows all the information about the washParameters are adjusted using a rotary switch, buttons, or touch controls. The basic programs, found in almost every model, include cotton, synthetics, wool, colors, and intensive wash. There are also additional modes that are very popular with homeowners.

  1. Silk. This is an extremely delicate cycle; washing other items in it is not practical, as the water temperature is very low, the amount of detergent is minimal, and the drum spin speed is very slow.
  2. Sportswear. This mode is essentially equivalent to the Quick Wash program. It offers minimal costs and average efficiency. Suitable for lightly soiled items.
  3. Express wash. See the point above.

Some modes are similar to each other in almost everything, only the program execution time differs slightly.

  1. Stain Removal. This program features a high drum speed and a long wash cycle.
  2. Children's clothes. This mode is designed to thoroughly rinse out detergent, and the water temperature reaches 90 degrees Celsius. This virtually eliminates allergic reactions after washing.
  3. Steam. Increases washing efficiency while maintaining relatively gentle washing settings.

In terms of efficiency and cost-effectiveness, LG and Indesit are roughly on par. Demand dictates, and all manufacturers strive to create efficient units that consume little energy and water. The classification of consumption classes is available online. Some particularly sophisticated machines even offer a number of additional features.

  • Surge protection. Models in this category are programmed to automatically shut off in the event of sudden power surges.
  • Automatic settings. Simply select the fabric type, and the machine will automatically determine the washing time and water volume.
  • Selectable start time. You can load the machine at any time convenient for you and then set the start timer. This way, the machine will automatically start washing at the specified time, even if you're not home.
  • Imbalance control. During the spin cycle, the machine monitors the distribution of laundry in the drum. If it's uneven, the drum rotates randomly in different directions to restore balance.
  • Leak protection. It's called Aquastop. It monitors not only the housing but also the hoses.

To choose a car and be sure to hit the mark, think carefully and create your own list of priorities. Then, check the specifications of various models online and jot down the parameters. You can even draw a table or some other guide. If you approach this carefully, you're sure to find the car of your dreams.

I'm writing a review of the Indesit WISL 83 washing machine. Do not buy this model under any circumstances. We initially bought it because of its small size (it's only 42 centimeters deep). The unit itself was professionally installed, so everything is stable. However, even with this, the vibration was simply crazy, and the noise too, although the maximum number of revolutions was 800. But it seemed like the whole house could hear me washing. I could forgive the noise from a 1600 RPM machine, but not from an 800 RPM one. The next thing is drum capacity. This is, of course, a personal choice, but for my family, 4.5 kg is clearly not enough. It's better to buy a 20 cm deeper washer and wash normally, rather than 10 loads at a time.Indesit WISL 83

I won't even mention the Russian assembly. It's probably hard to find anything more ridiculous. During my wash cycle, foam was pouring out of the door, even though it was closed and locked. How is it even possible for a working machine to be so leaky? The plastic is simply disgusting. I don't put anything on top of the washing machine and don't use the top lid as a shelf, but that didn't stop the plastic from turning a hideous yellow. The bottom is completely rusted!

Warning! Don't even try to disassemble the machine yourself, or at least fix or repair anything. Things that should be firmly attached fall off as soon as you touch them. Meanwhile, the removable parts seem to be rooted in the body; not every man can unscrew or remove them.

One minor (though somewhat different) drawback is that I had to rinse the laundry by hand almost every time after washing; the detergent wasn't rinsed out at all. When running, the machine would slide 30-35 centimeters to the side, and sometimes as much as half a meter.

So, the verdict is this: I used this model for eight years, only two of which were trouble-free. It all ended with the machine breaking down and, what's more, being beyond repair. I tossed it in the trash and didn't regret it one bit. I bought another one, and it's definitely not an Indesit. I don't know about other models from this brand, but avoid this one!

With all the discounts and promotions, the LG washing machine cost me 28,000 rubles. It's not exactly expensive, but it's a hefty price for this brand. The first thing I didn't like was the rotating indicator. There's no indication of which mode the knob is set to. You can only tell by the indicator light. And if it breaks, or the bulb burns out, the machine is ruined, since you have no idea what program you're selecting. And I doubt anyone makes or replaces such tiny bulbs.LG F4J6TM0W

Another point: never buy a car that's been sitting on the showroom floor. Ask for one from the warehouse. All sorts of things happen in sales offices. Kids get into mischief, and all sorts of situations happen. Sooner or later, something will come up, and you won't be able to prove anything. So, on the plus side:

  • loading the drum;
  • number of programs;
  • delayed start;
  • Wash time timer.

The downsides include all of the above, plus the fact that the child lock doesn't work on the off button. This means a child could easily turn the machine off during a wash cycle, and nothing would stop them. Yes, I also don’t like that after the wash is finished the machine turns off completely. Personally, I constantly forget to take things out of it later because there's nothing to remind me. But maybe that's just me being so disorganized.

As for the washing quality, it's generally flawless, but you know, for that price, you'd expect something superb. In reality, the same product (I mean, equivalent) could have been purchased for less. Be careful when choosing! It might be better to buy something cheaper, less reputable, so you don't regret wasting your money later.

    Based on my many years of experience repairing washing machines of various brands, each manufacturer has its pros and cons. But comparing LG and Indesit is simply ridiculous! Indesit and Ariston (the same manufacturer) don't even come close to LG in terms of build quality and components, ease of use, price, and (anything can happen) repairability (not replacement) of any type of equipment.
