Why doesn't my LG washing machine spin the laundry well?

Even seemingly perfectly functional machines sometimes experience issues that don't affect basic functionality but can cause problems for the owner. For example, my LG washing machine isn't spinning properly. This happens not just once or twice, but quite regularly. Well, there are a variety of possible causes, and some of them aren't particularly serious and can be easily fixed on your own.

Why does spinning not work satisfactorily?

Spinning is one of the most important functions of any washing machine, as doing it manually is physically demanding and time-consuming. The situation is further complicated by the fact that it's impossible to monitor how well the washing machine is spinning while it's running. Ultimately, there's nothing you can do about it. A number of factors primarily contribute to this failure.

• Incorrect assembly. This is the case when you experience poor spinning from the very first wash.
• The weight of the laundry in the drum exceeds the permissible limit. Therefore, the machine simply cannot handle the load.
• You have turned on a program that is automatically programmed for low spin speed.
• Machine loads vary in density. In these situations, only a portion of the load is often left unspinned.
• After the wash cycle is complete, water remains in the drum. This happens because the drain hose becomes clogged and prevents water from draining from the drum, leading to stagnation. The residual moisture can make even well-spun laundry wet again.
• A foreign object (a coin or button) is stuck between the drum and the tub, which is now interfering with the proper operation of the unit. Poor spin performance may also be caused by worn components (most often bearings, but other issues are possible). So, this problem is indicated by extraneous noise during washing.
• The tachometer sensor is faulty. This occurs if you regularly load more laundry into the drum than intended.
• Pump malfunctions. A damaged pump can signal itself in a variety of ways, so it's impossible to immediately determine whether it's working properly. The best option is to inspect it in person and then decide whether repairs are necessary.

And what about the most common problem—a faulty electronic module? After all, the machine's "brain" is responsible for all its operations, and if something goes wrong, absolutely any function of the unit can be affected.

Initial actions

So, you're dissatisfied with the spin quality of your washing machine. Well, it's entirely possible to fix the problem yourself if it's not too serious. However, be prepared for the possibility of needing professional help. Follow these steps.

• If you're unsure whether you've exceeded the maximum capacity, remove about half of the laundry from the drum. Then run the spin cycle again and see what happens.
• Has the situation not improved? Then inspect the drains and clean them. The passages are likely simply clogged.
• Try to determine if any foreign object is interfering with the washing process. If so, do everything possible to remove it.
• In the future, wash items made of coarse fabric separately at high speed.
• For a washing machine to function smoothly, balance within the drum is essential. That's why it's not recommended to wash heavy items individually. Add a few lighter items to ensure balance.

Important! If the problem isn't detected after the above steps, it may be rooted somewhere deep inside. This requires disassembling the machine. Inspect the heating element, pump, and motor for damage. If damaged, remove the part and replace it with a new one, as repairing these parts is expensive.

Maintain your equipment on time

Contrary to manufacturers' beliefs, many users simply ignore washing machine operating instructions. This leads to all the ensuing consequences.

For example, you should carefully inspect the drum and pockets of items for foreign objects. This is especially important for families with small children. Any element that gets inside the washing machine will inevitably damage it. Furthermore, don't choose programs at random. Washing a down comforter on a delicate cycle will result in disastrous results for both the washing machine and the item. As for small items of clothing, they are washed in special cloth bags!
