My LG washing machine turns on by itself.

My LG washing machine turns on by itself.Owners of LG washing machines may experience an unusual malfunction: the machine turns on by itself. If the power cord is plugged in, the machine periodically plays a welcoming melody and illuminates the control panel. The machine then goes into standby mode and turns off after five minutes.

Some users aren't bothered by this "odd behavior." They prefer to simply unplug the appliance after use and avoid investigating the problem. However, it's worth understanding why an LG washing machine turns on by itself and what the underlying cause is.

Is it worth touching the firmware?

If you explore various forums on this topic, you'll encounter DIYers who claim that the washing machine's spontaneous startup is caused by faulty firmware. Internet experts are confident that a proper firmware update of the main control module will resolve the problem.

Is it worth changing the control board? This opinion is wrong. Even if the washing machine software is fully functional, it may periodically turn on on its own. A number of experiments have been conducted to confirm this.

Washing machine repair technicians tested two LG models with a similar problem and found that reprogramming the system was ineffective. However, after replacing the main control unit, the technicians were able to resolve the issue. But is it really possible to fix the problem by simply installing a new, expensive module? Are there other solutions?

The button is to blame

In reality, the cause of the malfunction in both cases was the machine's power button. The contacts leading from the "On/Off" button to the control module sometimes malfunctioned. During the experiment, the button was inspected first, but the technicians found no defects. Could a manufacturing defect be the cause?

In cases involving manufacturer-initiated defects, it's reasonable to talk about a huge batch of defective components for automatic washing machines. In such situations, the brand typically recalls all defective washing machines and repairs them at its own expense. However, such sweeping measures would certainly have been reported by the media, and since there was no information available, our technicians decided to investigate the root cause of the failure themselves.

Following the inspection, the experts reached the following conclusion: the washing machine turns on by itself because the contacts of the power button lose their original functionality due to moisture getting on them. The wiring responsible for turning the unit on and off is very sensitive to condensation, and if it is not properly insulated with compound, damage to the power contacts can be expected.

Therefore, you can resolve the problem of your washing machine starting up by replacing the power button or treating it with an alcohol solution. These measures are temporary and do not guarantee that the problem will not recur. To eliminate the problem permanently, you should waterproof the contacts on the button and the connector with compound.

I think this is a misconception. That's how I came across this question online. I started testing the car's chassis. So I decided to ground it, that's all. Connecting it to ground triggers the circuit breaker to turn itself on. I'm no expert, but I think we need to look for the leak. Apparently, when the capacitor discharges, something somewhere is giving off a jolt or impulse. And that's what the car reacts to.

I had a problem with tenge. Everything went away when I replaced it.

Naturally, the button "leaks." The same problem applies to TVs. It either flips through channels, or the volume adjusts automatically. Anonymous and his output are in the trash...

Replace the heating element and you'll be happy. I had this problem: I couldn't figure out the cause for about six months. Then the circuit breaker started tripping.

I agree. I've encountered this, and everything was the same.

LG fF480TDS washing machine. It won't turn on; the relay clicks and the on/off button doesn't respond. What's the problem?

I agree with the previous commenter. For six months, the machine was messing around with its automatic shutoffs, and then my wife started complaining about the water not heating up enough. I stumbled across this article by chance, with all the comments! And then it all came together! I replaced the heating element, and everything was back to normal. Thanks to the commenters!

So guys, what should we do?
Rebuilding the engine is no problem. But I'm afraid to touch the washing machine...

My washing machine started turning on by itself, then the fuses blew. It turned out the heating element was also damaged (it was covered in debris). We replaced it and everything works. Thanks so much for the comments, you helped!

I'm so glad I made it to the comments. The answer to the problem is a faulty heating element. At first, my machine wouldn't turn on after the wash cycle. It would only turn on after a while, when I unplugged it. Then it started turning on and off randomly in standby mode. Then the circuit breaker tripped during the wash cycle. A huge thank you to the author of the first comment; you saved me a ton of time.
