Samsung washing machine turns off during washing
A housewife might find herself in an awkward situation when she starts a wash cycle on her automatic washing machine, leaves to do some errands, and then suddenly discovers that her "housekeeper" has shut off while it's running. And she can't restart the cycle because the machine stops responding to any commands. Why does a washing machine shut off during a wash cycle, and how can she fix it?
Why did the problem occur?
If your Samsung washing machine suddenly shuts off mid-cycle, it's possible it's due to external factors you simply didn't notice. First, check the most basic things before attempting a more thorough diagnosis of the washing machine's internals. Start by inspecting the external electrical system.
- Perhaps you were out of work and the power went out in the house? Maybe the power went out throughout the entire apartment or just in the room where the Samsung washing machine is located? You should also check the electrical panel.
- If the previous points have been checked, then pay attention to the socket to which the machine is connected.

- Finally, carefully examine the washing machine cord to make sure it hasn't been bitten by the dog and there are no visible defects on the plug.
These three points are the most common causes of malfunctions that could cause a Samsung washing machine to shut off mid-cycle. If any of these occur, the problem can be resolved quickly and easily. However, if your "home assistant" stops turning on due to damage, a stuck power button, a faulty electronic module, or a broken noise filter, a thorough diagnosis and repair will be required.
Noise suppression filter and wiring in CM
What should you do if the lights were left on while your Samsung washing machine was running, and the outlet and cord are intact? You should first check the simple components of the appliance, and then, if necessary, move on to diagnosing the more complex parts. Let's start by inspecting the power cord, plug, and interference filter. These components are interconnected, so they will be tested simultaneously. Follow the instructions for disassembling the components.
- Disconnect the washing machine from all utilities.
- It is advisable to move the device away from the wall so that there is free access to the rear wall of the machine.
- Remove the screws securing the top cover of the appliance.

- Locate the noise suppression filter, usually located slightly to the left of the power cord connection inside the Samsung washing machine housing.

- Now you need to loosen the clamp that holds the power cord.
- All that remains is to remove the filter and the power cord.

After successful disassembly, carefully inspect the wire plug. If there are no visible defects, take a multimeter, set it to resistance mode, and connect the probes. If the device shows zero, the tester is OK and ready for diagnostics.
Switch the tool to buzzer mode and use the probes to check each wire in the power cord. The tester will beep each time if the connection between the tested sections of the wire is intact. If the tester remains silent, the wire is clearly damaged.
Never test a live wire; be sure to unplug the cord from the power outlet.
In this case, repairs won't be effective. Don't twist the wire or use blue electrical tape to repair the Samsung washing machine's cable. It's much cheaper and more effective to simply buy a new cord, which will ensure that a break or short circuit won't happen again in the near future.
After connecting the wire, you should test the filter using the same multimeter with the buzzer mode. Connect the tester probes to the capacitor's contacts, and if you see a 0 or 1 on the display, the element should be discarded. To avoid wasting money, buy the exact same filter you removed from your "home assistant."
Heating element, motor or electronic module
If your washing machine shuts off during a cycle, but there are no problems with the power, outlet, cord, or filter, the heating element is most likely to blame. A damaged heating element can short-circuit, causing the machine to suddenly shut off mid-cycle as the heating element activates to heat the water.
If you suspect the heating element is the cause of the problem, it should be removed and thoroughly inspected. Because the heating element in Samsung washing machines is located at the front, removing it is difficult without the necessary experience and skills. To save time, it's best to call a service technician who can check the heating element, motor, and electronic module simultaneously. While normal engine operation can still be restored independently by replacing worn brushes, it's best for ordinary car owners to leave the control module alone.
Owners of inverter-powered models should not attempt to remove and repair the motor themselves—it's safer to call a professional.
If you have a Samsung washing machine with a brushed motor, to remove the motor, you first need to remove the back panel of the washing machine. Then, remove the drive belt, unscrew the bolts holding the motor in place, and then lift the motor out of the machine. Now all that's left to do is remove the old brushes with a Phillips-head screwdriver and attach the new parts in their place. Reinstall the motor, and be prepared for the new brushes to occasionally spark while the brushed motor is running. Don't worry about sparking—it's normal as the brushes wear in.
