The Mixed Fabrics program in the washing machine
Many people today prefer clothing made from blended fabrics. They are affordable, practical, and inexpensive. LG washing machines have a blended cycle for caring for these items. Let's explore the features of this wash program.
How does this algorithm work?
The "Mixed Fabrics" mode in the washing machine is designed for the care of combined materials that contain both artificial and natural fibers. To prevent shrinkage, wash at a low temperature of 30-40°C. It is possible to manually increase the temperature to 60 degrees, but some synthetic fabrics may become deformed in hot water, so you need to be careful with this.
If you have any doubts about the washing temperature, always check the garment's care label. It indicates not only the fabric composition but also the recommended temperature range. If the garment isn't heavily soiled, it's best to limit it to the standard 30-40 degrees Celsius (86-104 degrees Fahrenheit) for the "Mixed Fabrics" cycle.
By default, the spin cycle in the Mixed Fabrics mode is performed at a speed of 800 rpm.
The spin speed can also be adjusted either upwards or downwards. However, increasing the speed can cause fabric deformation, so it's best to play it safe.
You can connect some of your LG washing machine's auxiliary functions, such as "Extra Rinse" or "Easy Iron," to the "Mixed Fabrics" algorithm. This will reduce creasing and completely remove detergent from the fibers.
You can load mixed fabrics into your LG washing machine, even if the smart washing machine doesn't have a "Mixed Fabrics" program. Simply select a similar cycle setting with a temperature of up to 40°C.°C and a spin speed of up to 800 rpm. The results will be just as good.
What kind of fabrics are these?
Blended fabrics are affordable, durable and inexpensive. Combined materials have unique characteristics, so such clothing retains its appearance and properties even after several years of constant use. To ensure your favorite items last a long time, it's important to care for them properly. The manufacturer provides all care instructions on the garment label.
Blended fabrics are those that contain several types of fibers.
Materials can be made from both synthetic and natural fibers. It's very difficult to determine the percentage ratio of the fibers—new, improved textiles with enhanced properties are constantly being developed and introduced to the market. Blended fabrics are used to make:
- home clothes;
- underwear;
- uniform;
- sportswear;
- tourist equipment;
- outerwear, etc.
Blended fabrics are very common in Russia and worldwide. Let's look at the blends most commonly used in the light industry.
- Taslan. A blended fabric consisting of polyamide, reinforced with a grosgrain weave, reinforcing threads, and fishing line. It also has a protective coating. The material is highly wear-resistant and resistant to deformation.
- Duspo. A blended fabric consisting of polyamide and a plain weave. To reduce wear and tear, the material is treated with a protective coating.
- Tisi. A blend of cotton and polyester fibers, it's breathable, wrinkle-resistant, and resistant to snagging and creasing. It's often used in uniforms, particularly medical suits.
- Taffeta. This is a stretchy, lustrous fabric that shimmers in the light. It combines polyester and nylon fibers.
- Oxford. Contains nylon and polyester. The synthetic fibers are treated with a water-repellent finish. Often used in outerwear.
- Memory foam. A unique fabric with a memory effect. It's made from synthetic fibers, but variations with added cotton threads are also available. The ratio of natural to synthetic fibers should be no more than 30 to 70, otherwise the material will lose its memory effect.
This is just a small selection of existing blended fabrics. However, all these fabrics are washed the same way—on the same cycle, at a temperature no higher than 40 degrees Celsius. Spinning should be done at a speed no higher than 800 rpm.
