Removing the clamp on a washing machine

remove the outer clampSometimes situations arise when you need to replace the door seal on your washing machine, and then another challenge arises: removing the clamp on the washing machine. Manufacturers install these clamps very tightly at the factory, so removing them requires some effort for the average user. However, nothing is impossible, as long as there's a will.

How to remove the cuff clamps?

In fact, the cuff is held in place by two clamps: an outer one and an inner one. Removing the outer clamp is straightforward. It's easy to remove: slightly unfold the cuff, and you'll see it inside the fold, near the edge of the CM's front panel. To pry the clamp out, use a flat-bladed, but not sharp, screwdriver. Hook it under the clamp and carefully move it around the perimeter until you find the spring. Then, slightly stretch the spring and remove the outer clamp.

The inner clamp is not as easy to reach as the outer one. Some technicians who repair washing machines generally prefer to completely dismantle the front wall of the washing machine when repairing the cuff and removing the clamps, respectively. However, for owners of Samsung, Ariston, Indesit, LG, Candy and other models, there is an easier way.remove the clamp from the hatch cuff

  • After removing the outer clamp, use the fingers of one hand to lift the edge of the cuff and use the fingers of the other hand to feel the inner clamp underneath it.
  • Use a screwdriver to pry up the clamp.
  • Lift the bracket slightly and pull it off with a screwdriver.

Once you remove the clamp from the inside, the cuff will easily come out of the grooves and can be replaced with a new one.

How to install a new cuff?

The next step—installing the new seal—isn't easy either. The material of the seal, fresh off the assembly line, is very elastic and dense (the seal only becomes more flexible over time, making it easy to remove). So you'll either have to call someone to help or muster all your strength and skill to get the seal into place. Below is a procedure to help you install the seal correctly.

  • First, check if the cuff is defective.cuff for Ardo washing machine
  • Locate the installation mark on the seal.
  • Press the seal into the grooves so that the mounting mark and the mark on the machine body match.cuff in a washing machine
  • Press the cuff firmly against the inner edge and secure with the inner clamp. Make sure the clamp fits securely into the groove.
  • Fix the cuff on the outer edge and pull it around the perimeter of the hatch.washing machine cuff
  • Secure the result with an external clamp.

Important! After this, evaluate the results of your work: feel the seal to ensure it's seated properly, that the mounting marks are aligned correctly, that there are no gaps or voids, and that the inner and outer clamps are securely in place.

Why do some mechanics still prefer to disassemble the front wall to replace the cuff? The whole point is that the front panel significantly complicates the process of tightening the cuff; without the end, it is much easier to do this. But for the average user, removing the front wall may not seem any easier, so it's best not to waste time on it, but simply open the hatch door and remove the cuff in the manner described above.
