How to remove the lid from an LG washing machine
Deciding to repair your washing machine yourself? Then you need to know the basic intricacies of disassembling it. Otherwise, you simply won't be able to access the necessary parts, let alone replace them yourself. First, figure out how to remove the top cover of your washing machine—we'll be happy to help.
Step-by-step instructions
First, you need to prepare your LG washing machine for top cover removal. To do this, unplug your "home helper" from the power outlet, turn off the water supply, and disconnect the drain and inlet hoses. Next, move the machine to the center of the room for easier access. Now you can remove the top cover.
The LG machine is very heavy, so you will need someone to help you.
- Walk around the LG washing machine.
- At the back, just under the protrusion of the top cover, not far from the upper right and left corners of the machine's body, there are two screws. These need to be removed as they hold the cover in place.
- Having removed the screws, we take hold of the cover with both hands.
- With considerable force, pull the lid towards you until it moves a couple of centimeters.
- Next, simply lift the lid up and put it aside.

That's it, the lid is removed. This method works on all modern LG washing machines. If the lid doesn't lift or slide to the side, it's jammed. Don't try to pry it with a screwdriver, it's better to wiggle it back and forth. You can also gently tap it with a mallet and then try removing it again. Be patient, and everything will work out.
Why is this necessary?
We've explained how to remove the lid from an LG washing machine, but what exactly is this necessary for? What parts can a novice technician access if the top of the machine is removed?
First, you can access the LG washing machine's inlet valve. If you're having problems with the water supply, such as underfilling or overfilling, the inlet valve should be checked first. It's located at the top corner of the machine near the back wall. A novice mechanic can test the inlet valve coil, check the wiring, hoses, and even the mechanism. It's also possible to completely replace the faulty part, and all this can be done by simply removing the cover, without further disassembling the washing machine.
Is your detergent not rinsing well? Then you need to check the water supply to your LG washing machine's detergent drawer. To do this, you'll need to open the top cover. The top of the machine gives you full access to the drawer, allowing you to remove it, clean it, and replace it if necessary.

Just under the top cover of the machine you can find pressure switchThis element should be checked if the machine drains water late or refuses to drain, displaying an OE error. Replacing a faulty water level sensor is easy if you access it from above: unscrew the fastener, remove the power wires, and voila, you have the broken pressure switch in your hands.
By removing the lid of your LG washing machine, you can also access the upper counterweight. Counterweights rarely break, but they do happen, and you'll need to remove the top lid first. You can even remove the tub and drum through the top of the machine. To accomplish this, you'll still have to remove the panel, the front panel, and the access hatch at the rear of the machine, but the disassembly process definitely begins with the lid.
By removing the cover of the LG washing machine, you can even access the power filter if problems with the machine's power supply suddenly arise.
So, removing the lid from an LG washing machine is the first step, and without it, it's impossible to carry out any repairs yourself. Once you've taken this "first step," you'll learn everything else. Where there's a will, there's a will!
