How to remove the front panel of an Indesit washing machine?
Removing the front panel of an Indesit washing machine may be necessary when completely disassembling the machine, replacing the seal, repairing the door lock, or removing the drum. Whatever the task, you'll need to carefully remove the front panel of the washing machine without damaging the part itself, the housing, or adjacent components. This isn't easy, but it's entirely possible, even without calling a service center. Just be sure to have a Phillips-head and flat-head screwdriver handy and follow our instructions.
Set up your workspace
Of course, you can disassemble the washing machine right there. But it's more convenient and safer to do it in a spacious, well-lit room. Ideally, the unit should be moved to a garage or workshop, but a kitchen or hallway will do. The key is to clear at least 2 square meters of space and move the appliances away from the wall or remove them from the kitchen cabinet. Next, prepare the appliances for panel removal using the following procedure.
- We cover the work area with rags or newspapers.
- We disconnect the machine from communications, electricity, water supply and sewerage.
- We move the unit to the selected prepared location.
- We pull the powder receptacle tray towards ourselves and remove it from the housing.
- We use a screwdriver to pry up the narrow decorative panel and remove it from the plastic clip holders.
Beginner craftsmen should record their actions on camera to avoid problems during reassembly.
The debris filter is removed last. But first, place a container underneath it, as waste liquid always collects in its seat. Then, grasp the protrusion and unscrew it by turning it clockwise. Once the attachment is removed, proceed to disassembling the front panel.
Dismantling instructions
Once the machine is ready, we begin disassembling. First, remove the cover: unscrew the two screws holding it in place on either side of the rear panel and, lifting the back of the part, push the plastic piece away from you. Don't push too hard, otherwise the plastic clips securing the housing will break, making it impossible to return the top to the washing machine.
The top covers on Indesit machines are equipped with tight latches that are difficult to open the first time.
Next, we turn our attention to the instrument panel. To disassemble it, follow the following steps.
- We unscrew the bolts holding the module in the powder receptacle niche.
- We remove another fastener located at the top left of the washing machine body.
- Pull the panel toward you until the latches engage. Be careful not to break the wires connected to the electronic unit.

- We release the wire leading from the block to the filling valve.
- We attach the panel to the service hook.
- We loosen the clamp by hooking it with a screwdriver and insert the released hatch cuff into the drum.
- We unscrew the UBL fasteners so as not to damage the wires of the locking mechanism during subsequent dismantling.
Now all that remains is to unscrew the bolts around the perimeter of the front wall and remove the panel. To avoid losing the fasteners, it is recommended to store them and other small items in the inverted top cover. There is no need to try to disassemble the hatch door: even without dismantling it, the end of the machine will easily leave its rightful place.
