How to remove the drum seal from a Samsung washing machine?
To save money on repairs, many washing machine owners try to fix their machines themselves. In fact, in most cases, you can restore your washing machine's life at home. The exception is work that requires specialized equipment, experience, and knowledge. For example, if the problem is with the control unit, it's best to call a technician. If a seal needs replacing, you can try doing it yourself. Let's look at how to remove the rubber seal from the drum and install a new one in its place, and what the procedure is.
We remove the clamp from the outside
The seal is removed in two stages. Before proceeding, be sure to de-energize the equipment. First, remove the outer clamp, which is a ring with a steel spring. To remove it, use a thin slotted screwdriver to pull the collar back, pry the clamp near the spring, and gently pull it toward you.
Almost all Samsung phones have a metal clamp with a spring-loaded latch. This spring-loaded clamp should be gently stretched while simultaneously removing the ring. However, there are some Samsung models whose collar is secured with a plastic clamp. There's no spring in these models, and the convenient plastic latch makes removing the ring much easier. Once the outer clamp is removed from the housing, it is necessary to insert the rubber seal into the drum. In this position, the cuff will not interfere with further actions.
We remove the clamp from the inside
To remove the seal from a Samsung washing machine, you also need to remove the internal clamp that secures it. This step shouldn't be difficult either. The procedure is as follows:
remove the top cover of the washing machine by unscrewing the two bolts holding it;
Loosen the retaining ring with the existing mounting bolt. Continue unscrewing the screw until the clamp can be removed without any problem;
Pull the seal together with the metal ring out of the housing.
If the purpose of removing the cuff was to clean it, you should thoroughly wash the rubber using disinfectant. Instead of buying household chemicals, you can use proven folk remedies.
It is important to “refresh” not only the seal, but also the place where it is installed.
Wipe down all the recesses of the drum, previously sealed with rubber. These areas tend to accumulate dirt and debris, and mold can form.
Removing the front of the case
If the goal was to replace the seal, you'll need to remove the front panel of your Samsung washing machine. This is necessary to gain access to the drum and ensure the seal is securely attached to the machine.
Using a screwdriver or drill, remove the screws on the front of the machine. Three bolts are located at the bottom of the wall and should be easy to find. The upper fasteners are hidden by the control panel; you'll need to remove this part and set it aside.
The last screw is located under the powder compartment. Once all the screws are removed, all that's left to do is remove the front panel of the housing and set it aside. This will give you direct access to the drum.
Experienced technicians can replace the seal without removing the front panel, saving time on repairs. However, installing the gasket from the inside is much more difficult, so it's best to access the drum.
We install a new part
Installing a new seal is an important stage of the work. It is necessary to install the cuff correctly to ensure the tightness of the system and prevent water leakage from under the hatch door. The algorithm for subsequent actions will be as follows:
insert the rubber band together with the inner clamp into the washing machine and place them on the drum protrusion;
insert the sealing gasket and metal retaining ring around the circle;
Make sure the inner clamp is inserted all the way around;
tighten the mounting screw completely;
straighten the outer side of the cuff along the front part of the SMA;
Reinstall the outer clamp.
Once the rubber band is straightened, you can begin reassembling the washing machine body. First, install the front panel and secure it with bolts. Next, secure the control panel and replace the detergent dispenser. Then, you can reattach the top cover. Once the Samsung washing machine is assembled, run a test wash to check for any leaks from under the drum door.
