How to remove the lid of an Electrolux washing machine?

How to remove the lid of an Electrolux washing machineMinor problems with your Electrolux washing machine can often be fixed yourself. However, this will require some disassembly. How difficult is it to remove the top cover of an Electrolux washing machine? You shouldn't have any problems if you follow the step-by-step instructions below.

We dismantle the lid ourselves

First, you'll need to prepare the machine itself. Disconnect it from the power supply by unplugging it. Turn off the water supply and disconnect all hoses. Move the Electrolux washing machine away from the wall to a clear, level area. Now begin disassembling:

  • stand at the rear panel;
  • Locate the two screws located at the corners under the cover ledge;
  • unscrew them;
  • push the cover away from you towards the hatch;
  • go around the machine from the hatch side;
  • To remove the top cover, lift it up.

First, unscrew the screws.

Caution! If you notice that the cover is difficult or not moving at all, do not pry it off with a screwdriver or other sharp objects—the risk of damaging your equipment is too great.

If the part doesn't budge, try rocking it back and forth. The panel is likely stuck. Gently tap the bottom and sides with a mallet and try again. Just be patient, don't use excessive force. This method removes the cover of most Electrolux washing machines.

What is this useful for?

When might this manual be useful? What machine components does the cover protect? Let's look at which components can be repaired and replaced by removing the top of the unit. Typically, these are:

  • inlet valve;
  • dispenser with nozzles;
  • counterweight;
  • pressure switch with a tube;
  • network filter.

The inlet valve is located in the upper right corner near the rear cover. It is worth checking if the water supply is interrupted when starting or during operation of the washing machine. You can test the functionality of the valve coil and, if necessary, replace the entire mechanism.

After passing through the fill valve, water flows into the detergent drawer, which is connected to a small bin (where we pour the detergent). The resulting detergent solution flows through a hose into the drum. If you notice residual detergent after washing, the hose is clogged. By removing the top cover, you can easily remove and clean the hose, and install a new one if necessary.

You also gain access to the upper counterweight, whose primary function is to weigh down and balance the drum. It breaks extremely rarely, and when it does, it usually involves loosening of the fasteners. This is immediately noticeable because the machine begins to make a loud banging noise during the spin cycle. This type of malfunction must be corrected, otherwise, over time, the stone will fall apart, and its parts will fall down, risking damage to the machine’s parts.

Another important component is located here: the pressure switch, which regulates the draining of used water. If your Electrolux washing machine stops draining, or drains late and displays an error, the pressure switch is damaged. To replace it, unscrew the fastener with pliers and disconnect the part from the wires. Inspect the sensor for damage or contamination. After checking, you can install a new element if necessary.

You get access not only to mechanical parts, but also to wiring, contacts, etc.

You can also remove the tank and drum. To do this, in addition to the top panel, you'll need to remove the entire front panel and unscrew the fasteners holding the hatch. However, the entire procedure begins with the top cover.

So, knowing how to remove the lid will help you in a variety of situations involving a malfunctioning Electrolux washing machine. This is a basic step for repairs of any complexity. Therefore, this instruction is a must-have for anyone who doesn't want to overpay for a repairman's services.
