Service life of an Ariston washing machine

Service life of an Ariston washing machineWhen purchasing a new washing machine, every consumer expects it to last and be of good quality. Don't rely on the manufacturer's stated service life, as all technical specifications and features are closely linked to external factors. Most experts estimate the average lifespan of a washing machine to be 7-10 years. However, this also varies depending on the assembly, country of manufacture, and model. Let's take a closer look at the popular Ariston washing machine and explore its features.

The big picture

Today, the Ariston brand has lost its former reliability and build quality. The average lifespan of an Ariston washing machine is 5-7 years, barring any major breakdowns of an expensive component. There are examples of machines continuing to operate satisfactorily for several years after component repairs. It is worth noting that older models worked for about 10-15 years.

The service life has been reduced due to the manufacturer cutting corners on parts and materials. The metal used is susceptible to corrosion and rot. The plastic parts (tank, dispenser, etc.) are of much lower quality than those produced decades ago. The main problem with these washing machines is the bearings.

In the best case scenario, Ariston machines can last for about 7 years, but unfortunately, every 9th model breaks down after 3 years of use, and every 16th model - after a year.

All parts used in production are sourced from China. They undergo no additional checks other than the main inspection on the production line. Any car can pass all internal assembly quality standards, but what it's made of is of little interest to anyone.the quality of components has dropped

Machine maintainability

The longevity of any washing machine is affected by its repairability. If it can be repaired affordably and its functionality restored, the owner will likely not replace it with a newer model. However, if repairs are expensive or impossible to repair, it may be easier to return the machine for parts and purchase a new one. By a full repair, we mean:

  • bearing replacement;
  • replacement of the oil seal;
  • repair or installation of a new drum crosspiece;
  • electronics repair.How repairable is the equipment?

Any operation requires opening the tank. On Ariston models, the tanks cannot be disassembled. When repairing them, specialists have to saw the tank, and then glue it back together. In some cases, it may not be repaired after such interventions. Also, a full warranty is not provided for the repair. Therefore, after another tank leak, complaining about the repairman's work is pointless; the unit will need to be disassembled and re-glued again.

Most users of Ariston machines prefer to buy new ones after their machines break down (mainly bearing failure).

A rather specific component is the electronic module, or more precisely, its failure. In most cases, replacing the old module is expensive, so it's easier to buy a new machine. In Ariston washing machines, the microcontroller is the most common problem, and replacing it is a very labor-intensive process. For example, in popular Beko or Bosch automatic machines, replacing it and reinstalling the firmware is much simpler and easier. Some people even refuse to repair the Ariston electrical module, as the service is very expensive (approximately 60% of the cost of an inexpensive model).

In any case, the Ariston brand isn't so bad that you shouldn't buy it. On the contrary, some models are superior to the well-known Indesit in terms of reliability and functionality. The most important thing is not to expect a long service life from this appliance and to try to prevent negative external factors from affecting its internal components. Before using it, read the instructions and follow them!

    My car has been serving me for 17 years now. The motor only broke down once.
