Installing a Siemens washer and dryer in a column
Owners of small apartments often face the challenge of appliance placement. For these situations, there's a great way to arrange household appliances while maximizing space: stacking your washer and dryer. We'll explain all the intricacies of this installation and provide helpful information on how to secure Siemens units.
How to connect the units to each other?
You can organize the space in this way in any room. Typically, a bathroom or kitchen is chosen for this purpose, less often a hallway or storage room. The main rule: calculate the load on the lower "floor" in advance and securely fasten the machines. Otherwise, vibrations from the upper unit will negatively affect the performance of the lower one. What are the best ways to secure Siemens machines?
- Place the dryer on top using the bracket that came with the washer.
- Place both units in a frame made of plasterboard (in addition to plasterboard, plywood sheets and other similar materials will do).
- Buy special slats and secure the dryer above the washing machine.

The top tier must be securely fastened; you can't simply stack a dryer on top of a washing machine. Also, don't use the top tier for a washing machine. A washing machine weighs approximately 50-80 kg, and the dryer frame will inevitably be damaged by the weight.
Choose your machines carefully
Installation should begin with preparation and proper selection of equipment. If you neglect simple rules, various troubles, including breakdown of equipment, are inevitable. So, check out our tips on planning your space, choosing units, and installing networks.
- Dimensions. Siemens washing machines should match each other in depth and width. Ideally, you should buy them in pairs. If you purchased a washing machine first, choose a dryer that matches its dimensions (a slightly smaller unit will also work).
- Fixing. Choose any of the above methods. Prepare fasteners: screws, metal profiles, drywall, plywood, or other panels. When purchasing consumables, include putty, wall/frame paint, etc. If you don't want to mess around, you can order a cabinet made to your specific dimensions from a furniture store.
- Networks. When planning the location for the column, check whether it will be easy to connect the water supply. Consider drainage. Also, consider the proximity of electrical wiring: it's advisable to install separate outlets for such equipment.

When purchasing, keep in mind that modern Siemens dryers vary not only in size but also in operating details. For example, vented dryers require moist air to be exhausted outside. Therefore, the unit's hose is connected to the ventilation system or simply routed out a window.
More expensive but also more convenient are machines with a Heat Pump function, which passes air through a heat pump. This condenses the moisture, reheats the air, and reuses it for further use. The condensate accumulates in a special compartment that must be emptied regularly.
Important! If you don't want to drain the tray manually, install an automatic drain system.
To ensure that your appliances serve you faithfully and for a long time, use them separately. Don't run the washer and dryer at the same time - this will violate the main safety rule.Alternating use of units significantly extends their service life.
Do-it-yourself installation
If you decide to install the column yourself, first check the surface you'll be installing it on for any unevenness. The best floor for a column is concrete or tile; these materials won't sag under the combined weight of the appliances. Align the bottom appliance with a spirit level.
The floor covering must be non-slip.
A common method for mounting a Siemens dryer on a washing machine is to use a special stand. The stand is placed on anti-vibration rubber pads and secured with fasteners. The dryer is positioned with its feet in the grooves, which are sealed from the outside with plugs. Then, a test wash is run.
