Ardo washing machine won't spin – reasons
Is your Ardo washing machine not spinning, but still washing? Don't worry – washing machine users encounter this problem quite often. The solution isn't always easy. But we can reassure you: in half of the cases, the malfunction causing this problem can be fixed yourself, without the need for a qualified technician. In this article, we'll discuss the reasons why your Ardo washing machine has stopped spinning and how to fix them.
What caused the breakdown?
Most often, an Ardo washing machine fails to spin for a very simple reason. It's not a malfunction, but rather a user error that causes the problem. What kind of user error are we talking about?
- Overloading or unbalancing the drum. If you load too many items or a single large, heavy item into the Ardo washing machine's drum, the washing machine may stall without completing the spin cycle. The same can happen if there are too few items in the drum or they are too light.

To avoid such mistakes, you need to ensure that the washing machine drum is loaded sufficiently and that the laundry inside is distributed evenly.
- The wrong wash cycle was selected. Modern Ardo washing machines offer a wide range of wash programs and functions, which must be selected based on a number of factors. If the program was selected incorrectly, problems with spinning may occur.
- The Ardo washing machine wasn't maintained on time. It's no secret that automatic washing machines require regular maintenance. If the dust filter isn't cleaned for several years, it can easily become clogged with various debris, which will eventually cause problems with the spin cycle. To avoid this, you need to: clean the washing machine filter in time and not only a filter, but also a powder tray, as well as drain and inlet hoses.
However, not all causes of such failure are so trivial and easily remedied. The user may be completely at fault, in which case you'll have to look for the underlying problem that caused the aforementioned symptom.
- After inspecting the filters, hoses, and pipes for blockages, you need to remove the pump and check its functionality, and also check the engine's serviceability.
- Next we check the tachometer sensor.
- Then we get to the water level sensor and check it.
- Finally, you can deal with the wires and terminals, and then the control board.
Pump or engine?
Strictly speaking, a malfunctioning drain pump in an Ardo washing machine can lead not only to spin problems but also to general disruptions in the wash cycle. In this case, the washing machine's behavior may point specifically to the pump, and we'll explain why.
The thing is that the pump does not always break down completely. Often it simply does not work well due to a foreign object getting onto the impeller or for some other reason. This results in the machine spending more time draining water than is programmed.

Ideally, the control module should notice this and stop the wash cycle, displaying an error code. But this doesn't happen because, during washing, we usually use programs that use little water, meaning the draining process is fairly quick. The next stage of the program—rinsing—is a completely different matter. It uses a lot of water, and the pump, due to a malfunction, can't pump it out quickly. Most of the water drains, but the machine freezes without even starting the spin cycle.
If the above description of the problem sounds familiar, address the pump first. Here's what to do.
- Remove the detergent drawer from the washing machine.
- Tilt her onto her left side.
- Use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws holding the tray in place.
- Remove the tray.
- Disconnect the hose from the pump and unscrew the drain pump.
- Disassemble it and clean it from dirt, check the impeller.
- Check the resistance with a multimeter.
Sometimes, the Ardo washing machine's commutator motor can't accelerate the drum to the required speed to start spinning due to worn brushes. In this case, the brushes should be checked immediately, and if the problem is confirmed, they should be replaced immediately. How to change washing machine motor brushes, is described in the article of the same name.
The sensors are to blame
Other problems associated with poor engine performance arise from the tachometer—a small, ring-shaped device located on the engine. The tachometer is nothing more than a sensor that detects and monitors engine speed. If it's faulty, the electronic module simply won't be able to control engine performance, which in turn leads to malfunctions.
You can check the tachometer sensor with a multimeter. Measure the resistance, remembering to check the wires leading directly to the sensor and its terminals. The wires there are thin and easily broken or damaged, and if this happens, the tachometer generator will also not work.
The tachometer sensor cannot be repaired; it can only be replaced with a similar one.
Besides the tachogenerator, the water level sensor, the so-called pressure switch, can also go haywire.
In this case, the program may freeze just after the rinse cycle, which will result in the spin never starting. In this case, to make sure that the problem is in the pressure switch, you can run the spin cycle separately, independently of any washing program, and see how correctly the machine performs it. If everything goes well, then 97% of the time the water level sensor is faulty.
The Ardo washing machine's pressure switch can be accessed through the top cover. Once removed, you'll immediately see a round plastic device with terminals and wires attached—this is the water level sensor. We've illustrated this sensor in the image below to make it easier to locate. We check the pressure switch with a multimeter, blow out its tube, and if it's faulty, replace it.
It's all about the control module
If all the above components are in good working order, but your Ardo washing machine still refuses to spin, the electrical system or even the electronics may be at fault. Let's start with a simple check: the electrical wires inside the washing machine. Each wire must be carefully inspected and, if possible, checked for breaks.
Breaks are rare, but they do happen, so you need to do everything you can to detect them. Can't find the break? You'll need to contact a qualified technician, as tinkering with the control board without experience with electronics is risky. However, don't thoughtlessly replace this part without checking it first. A technician will determine the exact cause of your Ardo washing machine's spin-related malfunction and fix it as quickly as possible.
In conclusion, if your Ardo washing machine fails to spin and freezes before completing the cycle, it's important to immediately determine the cause. To make things easier, you can immediately contact a specialist, but you can also try to save a little money and find the cause yourself, and we'll be happy to help. Happy repairs!
