When does error F12 occur on an Indesit washing machine? It's impossible to answer this question without knowledge of the error code, its causes, and other factors. Therefore, we decided to examine the issue associated with error F12 comprehensively, while also filling in any gaps in your knowledge you may have in this area.

The meaning of the code

As per tradition, we'll begin with a general explanation of the error code, in this case, code F12. This explanation can be found in the Indesit washing machine's operating instructions. Then we'll provide a more detailed explanation, which will finally shed light on the problem. So, the general decoding of the error code F12 can be represented as: “the control module has stopped communicating with the buttons and lights on the control panel.”

Error F12 appears on both washing machines with and without a display.

Essentially, in this case, the Indesit washing machine detects a communication failure between its two most important modules. However, the connection is not completely lost, as the module was able to transmit error information to the user, meaning the electronic module retains some control over the control panel. Despite this, the F12 error is accompanied by an inability to use the control panel; in rare cases, even the on/off button does not work.

How and under what circumstances does it manifest itself?

If your Indesit washing machine doesn't have a display, the electronic module (bypassing the normal circuit) will activate certain control panel lights, which will indicate the error. These lights include the "Super Wash" and "Delayed End" indicators. On some Indesit washing machine models, only the RPM indicator may flash.

Error F12 appears 99% of the time shortly after plugging in the machine. In this case, the user doesn't have time to select a wash program or even interact with the control panel. The Indesit washing machine freezes immediately, and the on/off button may also fail, forcing you to disconnect the power by unplugging the machine.

We find and eliminate the causes

The error caused by error F12 can often be resolved by rebooting the Indesit washing machine. This reboot should be done according to the following procedure, not just any old way.

• Turn off the washing machine using the on/off button if it is working.
• Disconnect the power cord of the Indesit machine from the power supply.
• Wait for 2-3 minutes.

If, after cleaning the contacts of the J11 connector and the display module, your Indesit washing machine still doesn't work properly, the problem lies with the control module. You might immediately ask, Is it worth repairing electronic modules yourself?? We'll give you the short answer – don't! More often than not, this ends with the washing machine breaking down completely and forcing the user to take it to a service center. Just keep in mind that the repair will cost two to three times more, as you'll definitely need to replace parts of your "home helper," which is a whole other expense.
