Errors 1E, 1C, E7 in a Samsung washing machine

Error 1e in SamsungIf your washing machine isn't working properly and displays an error message, something's wrong. Error code 1E (also known as 1C or E7) indicates something may be wrong with the machine. If you have the manual, you can find a description of the code there. If you don't, our article will help you troubleshoot the issue.

What does this code mean?

On a Samsung washing machine, error 1E can appear at any time during the program, whether at the beginning of the cycle or midway through, especially the first time it appears. This error is caused by a malfunctioning water level sensor, which technicians call the pressure switch. Before this error occurs, the drain pump in the machine activates to pump out the water.

Code 1E appears on washing machines manufactured after 2007. On earlier models, this problem is coded E7.

If, within a few seconds, the water level sensor sends an incorrect frequency to the control module, outside the range of 15-30 MHz, then within three minutes the water will drain from the washing machine, and then this error will appear. On some washing machines you can see the code 1C, which is identical to the codes 1E and E7. And here it is error E1 means something completely different, so don't confuse 1E and E1.

It's not just washing machines with intelligent controls that alert you to this type of malfunction. On machines without a display, the following indicators light up:

  • temperature sensor 600WITH;
  • temperature sensor 400WITH;
  • cold water sensor.

All other indicators start flashing simultaneously.

Causes of occurrence

pressure switch tubeError 1E or E7, according to statistics, most often appears when the water level sensor itself breaks down, but in some cases, the cause may be:

  • a kink in the pressure tube, or possibly a hole in the tube running from the pressure switch to the tank;
  • There's a malfunction in the electronic module. In this case, you can try unplugging the washing machine for 10-15 minutes. If you're lucky, the "brains" will reset, and the machine will work normally.
  • electrical fault running from the pressure switch to the control module, oxidation of contacts.

Troubleshooting

To accurately determine the cause of this error, you need to open the washing machine and, as they say, see the problem firsthand. The pressure switch in a Samsung washing machine is much easier to access than the heating element or control module, so let's do this without further ado.

  1. We turn off the water and disconnect the inlet hose of the washing machine.
  2. We disconnect the drain hose from the sewer communications.
  3. We disconnect from the power grid.
  4. We take out the powder receptacle and put it aside; you can also rinse it thoroughly at the same time.
  5. We take the washing machine out of the niche in which it is installed.
  6. We unscrew the two screws, which are located on the back wall in the upper right corner of the case and in the upper left corner of the case, respectively.water level sensor
  7. Facing the back wall of the washing machine, place both palms on the top cover, then slide the cover back, and then lift it up.
  8. The pressure switch is located in the upper part of the machine body (closer to the back wall); it is impossible to confuse it with any other part.

Once you've located the pressure switch, the first thing you do is check the pressure line for leaks or blockages. If neither is found, grab a multimeter and begin checking the resistance and water level sensor contacts. We won't describe the entire testing process in detail, as we've already covered that in the publication. Checking the washing machine pressure switch – level relay.

If the pressure switch is still working properly, don't give up and continue checking. After checking the water level sensor, it's necessary to check the electrical connections that power this component and connect it to the control module. You need to test the entire connector and each wire individually. If the wiring is also OK, we're likely dealing with a serious problem with the control module.

pressure switchBurnt-out traces on the control board, triacs, and other semiconductor components could be interfering with proper operation of the pressure switch. You can try testing them all yourself and perhaps you'll be able to find the faulty component, but it's likely that troubleshooting and fixing the problem will be difficult in this case.

We, for our part, always recommend delegating any malfunctions in your washing machine's electronics to a specialist who will competently fix the problem without unnecessary expense. Self-correction of such faults may well lead to complete failure.control module ohm, and this is a completely different expense.

Finally, we'd like to point out that one of the easiest washing machine components to repair—the pressure switch—can throw up a whole host of surprises. So, if you encounter error 1e in your Samsung washing machine, be extremely careful, but don't rush into the housing; at least reboot your "home assistant" a couple of times first. Good luck with your repair!
