Indesit washing machines
Indesit washing machines are in good demand worldwide. They have their own distinctive features, but they are also not without their drawbacks. This article will discuss which models of this brand's washing machines are the most reliable, where these machines are assembled, their service life, and much more.
Brand history
The history of the Indesit brand is inextricably linked with the development of the Ariston company. It all started in 1975, when household appliances under the Indesit brand were introduced in Italy and achieved success throughout Europe. At that time, a company producing various types of household appliances, founded in the 1930s by Aristide Merloni, was already developing in Italy.
Part of this company, Merloni Elettrodomestici, which produced washing machines, was transferred to the management of his son, Vittorio, who, looking at the success and turnover of Indesit production, took a decisive step and bought the Indesit brand in 1989. Since then, the two brands Indesit and Ariston have been produced by a single company, Elettrodomestici, whose main management office is still located in the city of Fabriano.
Since the Indesit brand was more successful globally than Ariston, Vitório took another important step in the company's development and renamed it Indesit Company. This decision took effect in 2005. Thus, the relatively young Indesit company gained global popularity. Today, washing machines of this brand are assembled in France, Portugal, Poland, and other countries.
The Indesit washing machine appeared in Russia in 1993, and a representative office opened in 1995. In 2000, the company acquired the Lipetsk Stinol plant, where production of Ariston and Indesit machines began.
Advantages and disadvantages
Like any other brand, Indesit washing machines have their own distinctive features and advantages. Their key benefits include:
- A wide selection of models with varying specifications is available. You can choose from both top-loading and front-loading machines. The laundry load varies from 3.5 to 9 kg. Dimensions can be selected to suit the size of the room; among these machines, there are narrow and even small models that fit perfectly under the sink in a small bathroom.
- Washing machines come with standard or advanced features. This allows you to choose budget-friendly models that don't include anything you don't plan to use, meaning you don't have to pay for unnecessary features.
- Reduced energy consumption thanks to new Energy Save technology and Eco Time function.
- Snow-like water consumption thanks to Water Balance technology.
- Affordable prices. Indesit automatic washing machines are primarily manufactured in the mid-price range, but budget options are also available.
When it comes to reliability, Italian-made washing machines are valued the most among all other types. The average service life of such machines is 8 years. The same can't be said for Chinese-assembled Indesits; their service life may not exceed five years, depending on luck. However, the washing machines most often sent to service centers are those assembled in Russia from Chinese components. The warranty period for almost all models is one year.
The service life of the equipment will also be affected by the correct connection of the machine to utilities, operating conditions, and timely maintenance.
The disadvantages of Indesit washing machines, as noted by service center professionals, are as follows:
- bearings, which fail more often than other parts;
- poor assembly, resulting in excessive vibration and noise during operation;
- poor quality temperature controller, often breaking down;
- Poor quality hoses and hatch seals, leading to machine depressurization and water leaks.
By user reviews It's hard to draw a definitive conclusion about Indesit washing machines. Some were lucky and satisfied with their machines, noting that they worked flawlessly for 7-8 years. Others were so unlucky that they had to return their machines for warranty repairs after just a few weeks.
Model overview
There are many washing machine models available, so we'll try to provide examples of models in different price categories and describe their main characteristics.
The Indesit IWUB 4105 is a front-loading washing machine with a removable top lid. It has a load capacity of up to 4 kg and a spin speed of up to 1000 rpm. It also has a wash class A rating, but only a spin class C rating. Its shallow depth of just 33 cm allows it to be installed even in a small bathroom. Washing programs include "Jeans," "Wool," "Silk," "Sportswear," and others. This budget-friendly machine is perfect for a small family. Made in Russia. The average price is $150.

The Indesit NWSK 8128 L is a front-loading washer with a capacity of up to 8 kg and a spin speed of up to 1200 rpm. The large 49 cm diameter loading door allows for easy loading of laundry. The dimensions of the machine are 85 x 44 x 60 cm. It offers 18 washing modes, including adjustable temperature and spin speed. Made in Russia. Prices start at $210.
The Indesit ITW A 5851 W is a top-loading automatic washing machine with a load capacity of up to 5 kg and a spin speed of up to 800 rpm. Its dimensions allow it to fit even in a small space, and it offers all the necessary washing modes. It's made in Russia. Furthermore, the price, starting at $180, is attractive.

The Indesit ITW E 71252 G is a top-loading washing machine with a load capacity of up to 7 kg and a spin speed of up to 1200 rpm. Unlike its predecessor, this top-loading model features a digital display and intuitive controls. A total of 14 wash modes allow you to wash various types of fabrics, including delicates, without affecting the quality or lifespan of your items. Made in Russia, prices start at $270.

The Indesit XWDE 861480X W is a washer-dryer with a wash capacity of up to 8 kg and a dry capacity of up to 6 kg. The spin cycle reaches up to 1400 rpm. It has an A-class wash, spin, and energy efficiency rating. It offers 16 programs, including the "Stain Removal" and "Soak" programs. In addition, there is an odor elimination function. Made in Italy. This machine offers excellent functionality, and compared to its competitors, it's priced starting at $420.

So, Indesit washing machines aren't exactly the most reliable, with an average lifespan of no more than 7 years. In most cases, the longest-lasting machines of this brand are those manufactured 15 years ago, and they boast better-quality components than modern models. However, it's not all bad news: after 5 years of use, it's not a bad idea to buy a new machine, especially since they're quite inexpensive.

My Indesit worked for more than 20 years!
Mine is 14 years old.
Mine is 7 years old, and I've had to repair it twice. The first time, the brains exploded, and the second time, the bearings broke.
It's been working perfectly for me for over 15 years now. It has both software and mechanical controls. You can choose whatever you want, unlike modern electronic controls. It's assembled in Italy!
Mine is also 20, but in the past they didn’t do it like they do now, but with high quality.
Our washing machine is 20 years old and still going strong, but I can't remember the exact name. It was some Indesit, imported from Germany. It ran at about 800-900 rpm, although Beko's were typically 420 at the time. We've never had a single repair. There were times when it wouldn't drain. It easily pulled about 5-6 kg when overloaded, but once it cooled down, it drained smoothly and continued working. The controls couldn't be simpler. Everything was marked on the round spool. It wasn't like you had to turn it left and right, like in a Beko. 60 at the bottom, 40 at the top, and so on. Like an Indesit clock: 12 is start, 6 is double spin. You could set the temperature from 12-6, everything was clearly marked. This machine is a godsend!
Sometimes these articles explain things better than consultants, and here's one of them. We bought the Indesit NWSK 8128 L, apparently even for about the same price. It really has a nice interface and capacity.
Russian-assembled Indesit WISN 101. It lasted almost 12 years, and that's with fairly intensive use. I replaced the motor brushes myself once (they were worn out), but the bearing eventually failed. I consider that a pretty decent lifespan.
Indesit W43T. I bought it either in '99 or 2000. It was the first model to come out. It still works. I replaced the pulley on the drum, and the pump is constantly running. It's Italian.
