Washing a T-shirt in a washing machine

Washing a T-shirt in a washing machineEveryone, regardless of gender or age, has a T-shirt in their closet. Many wear them daily—at home, on walks, and in the office. Machine washing is commonplace—it's quick and easy. To avoid damaging your T-shirt and maximize its lifespan, preserving its original appearance and shape, it's important to know the appropriate washing program and the preferred water temperature. Let's explore the care of this item.

Getting ready for washing

To choose the optimal washing parameters, check the garment label. The label indicates the fabric composition of the garment. Once you understand what material the T-shirt is made of, it will be easy to choose a machine wash cycle.

  1. Cotton T-shirts are practical, hold their shape well, are easy to care for, and retain their properties perfectly. They can be washed in both automatic and hand washing machines. The preferred temperature for this type of fabric is 50-60°C. Cotton can even withstand boiling, but this may still affect the garment's appearance.
  2. Cotton fabric with added Lycra is also common. This type of T-shirt is elastic and requires careful care to prevent stretching. It's best to hand-wash Lycra-blend garments in warm water. The temperature shouldn't exceed 40°C (104°F). It's important not to rub the garment too hard or twist it during the spin cycle. Stretching the T-shirt during the wash cycle can cause it to lose its shape. When washing this material in a washing machine, select a gentle cycle with water at 30°C (86°F) or 40°C (104°F).study the label
  3. Wool T-shirts require gentle and careful washing. This material is quite delicate, so it is not recommended to wash it in a washing machine. It is best to hand wash wool items without stretching or squeezing them. Machine washing is permitted, but only on the special "Wool" program with the spin cycle disabled.

Therefore, it's important to first determine what material the T-shirt is made of. Cotton items, for example, won't require special care, but woolen items will require special care.

Description of the process

Once you've identified the fabric of your T-shirt and the best washing method, you can begin the actual washing process. Inspect the clothes and sort them into batches by color and material. Everyone knows you shouldn't throw a red and white T-shirt, or a synthetic and wool sweater, into the washing machine at the same time. If the T-shirt has a pattern, turn it inside out.we set the washing program

Once the items are ready for washing, you can load the washing machine, add detergent, fabric softener, and run the desired program. Ideally, wash the T-shirt in water heated to 30-40°C. As for spinning, it's best to select a low spin speed, up to 800 rpm. Wool items should not be spun at all to avoid damage.

In addition to the standard wash cycle, you can set the desired option, for example, “Extra rinse” or “Easy iron”.

Cotton T-shirts can be tumble dried, but choose a T-shirt marked "Air Dry." If you hang the garment on a line, be sure to clip the clothespins to the bottom of the garment. Avoid hanging the garment upside down on the clothesline, as this will leave a deep crease in the garment that's very difficult to smooth out.

Laundry detergent

To preserve the brightness, softness, shape and quality of your clothes for a long time, it is necessary to choose a good detergent. It is advisable for the housewife to have several compositions in her arsenal: for light and colored linen, for woolen items, delicate fabrics, liquid and bulk products. We wash in the traditional way

Many housewives prefer to quickly refresh their favorite T-shirt by hand. Traditional washing is just as effective as machine washing, removing stains just as effectively, and preserving the garment is guaranteed. The procedure is as follows:wash the T-shirt by hand

  • prepare a basin, fill it with water of the required temperature;
  • add powder or pour in washing liquid, strictly following the dosage indicated by the manufacturer on the product packaging;
  • lather the soap solution;

Make sure the powder or gel is completely dissolved in water, otherwise stains may remain on the item after washing, and the color of the fabric may change in some places.

  • place the T-shirt in a basin;
  • If the contamination is quite severe, leave the item to soak in a soapy solution for a couple of hours;
  • Begin washing, especially around the collar and underarm area. Avoid rubbing vigorously to avoid damaging the fabric.
  • drain the water from the container and refill the basin;
  • rinse the item.

Wring out the garment gently; never twist the shirt. Gently shake the garment to straighten it and hang it on a clothesline. Iron the shirt inside out.

    When hand-washed with laundry soap, some T-shirts and similar items don't lather well and stick together. This is especially true for colored ones, while others are fine. Is it the quality of the fabric?
