How to properly wash a mouse pad?

How to properly wash a mouse padDon't forget to wash your computer mousepad. Its cleanliness determines the accuracy and speed of your cursor, as well as the overall performance of your gaming mouse. If the fabric is dirty, your device will slow down and become less accurate. Washing your device is possible and necessary, but only according to specific instructions. Let's learn how to properly wash your mousepad to maintain its smoothness and shape.

Peculiarities of washing computer mouse pads

Cleaning a gaming mouse pad is different from cleaning a regular tablecloth or napkin. It is important that the lining remains smooth and even, otherwise the necessary sliding will not occur. Therefore, you should follow several rules:

  • do not crush or rub the product vigorously;
  • hand wash only (spinning in a washing machine drum will damage the coating);
  • use water up to 40 degrees;wash the rug by hand
  • Do not roll the mat (moisture can be removed with a cloth or paper).

The computer mat must not be rubbed or twisted!

Cleaning frequency depends on how quickly the mouse pad gets dirty. Generally, it's recommended to wash the device every 3 months. Ideally, the accessory shouldn't be left to become dirty, but should be periodically wiped with a cloth as a preventative measure.

We wash the mat from dirt

Can you remove a stain from a rug with soap? Yes! To remove stubborn stains, you'll need mild detergents and a dish sponge. Here's how:

  • wet the mat under running water;
  • apply shampoo to the dirty side;
  • rub the detergent into the foam;Methods for cleaning a mouse pad
  • Use a sponge to clean the mat on both sides (using light circular movements);
  • rinse off the foam with clean water;
  • Repeat cleaning and rinsing if stains persist.

If the accessory has a built-in backlight, avoid using running water. It's better to limit yourself to a superficial cleaning with a special screen cleaner. Another option is to wipe the lining with a disposable cloth.

To wash the rugs, use delicate liquid products – shampoos and gels without chlorine, phosphates and bleaches.

The double-sided mat can be treated with an alcohol solution: dilute the alcohol with water, soak a cloth in it, and wipe both sides of the device. Rough rubber accessories can be cleaned with an old toothbrush or a melamine sponge.

Cleaning a textile rug

A fabric mat is the most low-maintenance – it's the easiest to clean. Simply take a cloth and dip it in a concentrated cleaning solution. Liquid soap, dishwashing gel, hair shampoo or liquid powder are used as a cleaner. Next, everything is simple: we go over the dirty areas with a soapy sponge, and then rinse off the foam under the tap.

Many people wonder if it's possible to wash a computer monitor in a basin. This is permitted if you follow these steps:

  • fill the basin with cool water;
  • dissolve a gentle detergent in water (without bleach or other abrasive components);
  • dip the mat into the resulting solution;textile mouse pad
  • Wipe the soiled areas with your hands, avoiding pressure and crushing;
  • rinse the product under cold water.

It is better to vacuum or shake out a dusty rug first!

Fabric linings with a "control" coating are machine-washable as standard: gently and without unnecessary friction. There's no need to wash the lining to remove dust—a cloth or vacuum will do.

If the mat has a plastic base

Plastic mats should be washed immediately after they become dirty. Over time, dirt will become ingrained into the plastic, making it difficult to remove. Cleaning should be done on a gentle cycle:

  • give up the washing machine;
  • wipe the surface with a sponge soaked in soapy water;
  • rinse off the foam with clean water;
  • dry.

Plastic mats can be easily cleaned with dishwashing gel, especially if stains are deeply ingrained. Stubborn stains can also be removed with an alcohol solution or a computer and TV cleaning wipe.

Rug with light effect and print

Gaming mousepads have some unique features, including backlighting, ports, and stops. These are convenient to use, but difficult to clean—they require careful handling. Gaming mousepads should also be washed periodically, but more delicately:

  • do not wash;
  • do not wet completely;
  • limit yourself to superficial cleaning.backlit mouse pad

Mats equipped with electronic components are sensitive to direct contact with moisture, as this will damage the electronics. To prevent this, avoid washing and opt for surface cleaning. An excellent option is to wipe the surface of the device with a special cleaning cloth. You can also use a cleaning spray or solution containing ammonia. The latter not only effectively removes dirt but also leaves no streaks.

The backlit mat must not be completely wet – direct contact with water will damage the electronics!

It's a different story if the mat is made of bamboo. This material doesn't tolerate moisture and will warp if exposed to water. It's best to play it safe and use an alcohol wipe.

When planning your rug's cleaning, follow the manufacturer's recommendations. If the packaging is missing or you're unsure about the detergent to use, it's best to skip washing and opt for a gentler cleaning. This will ensure the lining stays clean and functional.

How to get rid of moisture?

There's no doubt about whether the mouse pad can be used when wet. Don't place it on the table until the pad is completely dry, as residual moisture could reach the mouse's electronics and damage it. Dry the device thoroughly before returning it to the laptop.

The rug is dried according to certain rules:

  • only natural drying – no hair dryer or radiator;
  • the mat is first wiped dry on both sides (with a cloth, napkins or a towel);
  • the product is placed on a floor dryer with the front side up;
  • For drying, select a ventilated room protected from direct sunlight.

You can't soak your computer mouse pad with newspapers, as this will leave printing ink on the surface.

If the rug is too wet, it's best to dry it on a clothesline. Attach it with clothespins at both corners and leave it there until it's completely dry.
