Washing microfiber in a washing machine

Washing microfiber in a washing machineHousewives have long appreciated microfiber. This material doesn't fade or leave marks, is lightweight, pilling-resistant, dries quickly, and retains heat. However, the fabric's attractive properties can be lost if you don't know how to properly machine wash, iron, dry, and bleach microfiber. We recommend avoiding risking your favorite items and learning about potential mistakes when cleaning microfiber.

Recommendations for using the machine

Microfiber is durable and completely washable. It can be washed either by hand or in a washing machine. Hand washing is always safer, but automatic cleaning, with the correct washing machine settings, will also be safe. Just follow these guidelines:

  • Lightweight microfiber absorbs a lot of moisture, so it is important to leave 1/3 of the drum empty;
  • do not heat the water above 50 degrees (the label indicates a maximum limit of 60 degrees, but it is better to leave some extra heat);
  • Microfiber does not fade, but it is better not to take risks and sort laundry by color;set the temperature to 40 degrees
  • Use the correct amount of detergent (microfiber foams well, so exceeding the recommended amount will make the situation worse);
  • If there are old stains on the fabric, pre-soaking is recommended;
  • select the “Delicate” program (the machine movements should be smooth, the spin should be minimal, and the rinse should be generous);
  • do not run the wash cycle for more than 1.5 hours;
  • Do not use conditioners or rinses.

Microfiber products are machine washable.

Machine-spinning and drying microfiber clothing is not recommended. It's best to disable these functions and perform the necessary procedures manually.

If you have enough free time, you can wash the fabric without using a washing machine. This option is much safer and more economical—you can avoid unnecessary resource consumption and minimize mechanical stress. Just keep a few important points in mind:

  • heat the water to 40-50 degrees (boiling is contraindicated, since microfiber quickly deforms at high temperatures and loses its original appearance);
  • select a suitable detergent (if you are washing colored items, the composition should not contain aggressive bleaches);hand wash microfiber
  • sort clothes by color;
  • do not rub the fabric too hard, as the stain will quickly come off in water (microfiber repels dirt, preventing it from penetrating deep into the material);
  • squeeze lightly, without twisting.

Aggressive bleaches are destructive to microfiber.

Manufacturers of multifunctional microfiber claim that the fabric can withstand approximately 500 washes. The key is to avoid damaging the fiber structure with vigorous rubbing and avoid using harsh bleaching agents.Remember that synthetic fabric is dirt-repellent, so even gentle cleaning solutions quickly clean the material without prolonged soaking.

Let's choose a remedy

Gels are the most effective for cleaning microfibers. Liquid detergents are gentler on the material, penetrate the fabric more quickly, and rinse out quickly, leaving no marks or streaks. Washing with detergent powders is also possible, but there's a high risk that the granules won't dissolve completely in the water and will remain embedded in the fibers. Use the gel or powder as usual:

  • When machine washing, add the mixture to the tray according to the instructions;
  • If the item is washed by hand, first prepare a soap solution by dissolving the gel in water;
  • Afterwards, the product is thoroughly washed until the foam is completely removed from the fibers.

When choosing a detergent, it's also important to consider its ingredients. It's not recommended to wash microfiber with strong bleaching agents, as these harsh ingredients will destroy the soft fiber layer. Fabric softeners and fabric conditioners are also prohibited.

Is whitening possible?

Please note that when cleaning microfiber items, it is not recommended to use detergents containing harsh bleaching agents. Using "Belizna" or similar products will cause new stains to appear on the fabric, which will be impossible to remove. It is better to opt for gentle bleaching.

It is prohibited to wash microfiber with bleach or other strong bleaches.

Vanish bleach is gentle. However, it's important to measure the amount correctly, following the instructions on the packaging. If you don't use the correct amount, the concentration will increase and damage sensitive fibers. Also, remember to heat the water to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) and soak for no more than 30 minutes. After bleaching, rinse the item thoroughly and run a full wash cycle.bleach cannot be used

Removing moisture from clothes

Microfiber items don't like to be air-dried. This isn't necessary—the fibers dry quickly, so hanging them outdoors is sufficient. Direct sunlight won't damage the material, but will accelerate moisture evaporation.

It is not recommended to dry microfiber on radiators, as artificial heat will permanently deform the fabric.

Such fabrics should not be left in the dryer or closet, as they are guaranteed to be damaged. Hanging items on radiators is also prohibited, as excessive heat will cause creasing and deformation.only natural drying of microfiber

Can it be ironed?

Microfiber does not tolerate high temperatures. If the temperature exceeds 60 degrees, the material will become severely deformed beyond repair, so overheating should be avoided. Therefore, it is highly undesirable to use an iron.

If an item has become heavily wrinkled during the washing process, it's best to correct the situation by drying it properly. In most cases, simply lay the wrinkled item on a soft cloth like a terry towel and gently smooth it with your hands.

If the creases are severe, you can try ironing the item. Iron only at the lowest setting and through a cotton cloth. Start with a small area on the inside to avoid completely ruining the item.
