Where are LG washing machines assembled?

Everyone knows that LG is a large South Korean company that manufactures various home appliances, including washing machines. By analogy, many mistakenly assume that because the company is from South Korea, LG washing machines must also be manufactured there, but this is not true. If we look at the range of these washing machines sold in Russia, we realize that only a tenth of them are made in Korea; the rest are assembled in third countries.

Where is your car from?

A natural and reasonable question arises: where did that washing machine come from that I recently bought in A Russian store, if not South Korea? Well, first of all, don't panic. The manufacturer is required to indicate the country of origin of a specific washing machine in the instruction manual included with it, and there's also a label on the machine body. Secondly, if a car is assembled in a third country, it is not necessarily inferior, since the production of components and assembly are carried out using the same technology.

However, I'd like to know where LG Group's washing machine production facilities are located and where these machines are shipped to Russia from. Let's find out in which countries LG Group has established production of LG washing machines.

1. Russia. In 2006, a large LG Group plant opened in the Moscow region, producing refrigerators, televisions, and over 100 models of washing machines. Ten years later, the plant has produced over 7,500,000 LG washing machines, becoming one of the largest LG Group plants producing such equipment.
   
2. South Korea. LG Home Appliances is a division of LG Electronics Inc., which in turn is part of the LG Group conglomerate. Its manufacturing facilities are located in Seoul and assemble the latest generation of high-tech washing machines and components.
3. China. One of the company's largest production facilities is located in China. Companies that assemble washing machines of this brand LG are located in the suburbs of Hong Kong. There are also component factories in Shenzhen and Huizhou. Washing machines with large drums and features are assembled in the suburbs of Hong Kong. Fuzzy Logic, half load, water cooling before discharge, etc.
4. Taiwan. There is a small assembly plant for washing machines, refrigerators, and microwave ovens in Taipei City, and component production lines in the surrounding areas of Hsinbei and Hsindian Qu.
5. The Philippines. There are several LG washing machine assembly lines in Manila and several component manufacturing plants in San Juan and Pateros. Direct shipments of washing machine motors from Taiwan have been established.
6. Indonesia. LG doesn't have its own washing machine assembly lines, but it does produce components for its "home helpers" and ships them to China. Finished washing machines for domestic sale are shipped from China, the Philippines, and South Korea.
   

Important! The vast majority of LG washing machines sold in Russia are made in the Moscow region—approximately 74%. The remaining 26% are higher-end models imported from China and South Korea.

A few words about the company

The LG Group began its history as a small enterprise opened by an enterprising Korean in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, in 1947. The factory specialized in hand and face creams, as well as a small line of household chemicals. Until the mid-1950s, Lac Hi Industries struggled to find its footing, attempting to produce plastics and toothpaste. In 1956, with financial support from the head of state, Lac Hi spun off into a small company called Goldstar, which began producing household appliances and electronics.

Goldstar grew rapidly, and by 1959, it was already producing transistor radios. In 1962, Goldstar entered the international market with a full line of home electronics: receivers, electric fans, and telephones. In 1969, the company released its first washing machine, which was actively sold mainly in the domestic market. In 1976, one of the largest factories in Korea for the production of home appliances was opened in Changwon, where washing machines were also produced.

By 1995, Goldstar had already become a large group, comprising dozens of companies producing a wide range of products: from household and industrial chemicals to home appliances, electronics, and components. That same year, it was decided to create a corporate group formally combining Goldstar and Lucky into the LG Group.

Today, the LG Group is the world's largest manufacturer of not only electronics and chemicals, but also household appliances. Every year, the group's enterprises produce hundreds of thousands of washing machines across virtually the entire globe.

Advantages of these washing machines

The country of origin of an LG washing machine plays a role to some extent, but it's important to remember that all LG Group appliance manufacturers, without exception, operate using the same technology and concept, ensuring the high quality of their finished products. As for the competitive advantages of LG washing machines, the group has much to boast about.

• LG washing machine modules are among the smartest in the world. A number of models feature Fusion Logic smart control technology, which allows for significantly better washing results without additional water and electricity costs.
  
• Washing machines with large load capacities of 8 kg or more and drying functions are among the most affordable in the world. At the same time, the quality of the equipment is top-notch.
• The inverter motors that the company installs in its washing machines are among the most reliable in the world and have not broken down for decades.
• LG washing machines have good balance, acceptable noise levels, and simple and easy-to-use washing programs.

So, washing machines under the brand LG is produced in many countries around the world, but in Russia we can buy models manufactured here, or in South Korea or China.No matter where these washing machines are manufactured, you can always count on high quality.
