How to turn on a Candy washing machine?
To properly start a Candy washing machine, simply pressing the "Start" button isn't enough. You need to carefully sort your items, select the appropriate mode, add detergent to the detergent drawer, load the drum, and only then activate the program. Each step has its own nuances and requirements, and understanding them will help ensure safe cleaning and perfect stain removal. We'll explain the exact sequence.
Adding detergent
How well your clothes clean during washing depends largely on the detergent you use. It should be a high-quality powder or gel labeled "for automatic washing machines." But that's not all—it's important to pour the concentrate into the washing machine correctly.
All Candy washing machines are equipped with special dispensers, commonly referred to as powder compartments. These compartments are located at the top left and are used to dispense detergent during the wash cycle. Depending on the model, the machine has from 2 to 4 compartments, each of which is designed for a separate type of concentrate or stage of the cycle. Therefore, it is important to first understand the types of cuvettes.
So, the Aquamatic model has only two compartments:
- You need to pour powder into the left compartment;
- into the right bunker – liquid concentrates.
Don't mix up the detergent dispensers, otherwise the detergent will be dispensed incorrectly. If the detergent doesn't rinse out well, we recommend using a special container filled with concentrate and placed in the drum along with the laundry. Simply pouring or sprinkling the detergent onto the bottom of the tank or onto the item is not recommended, as it will dissolve unevenly and, in the worst case, damage the fabric, bleaching it or ruining its structure.
Do not add gel or powder to the drum without a special container – the aggressive concentrate can ruin your clothes!
Modern Candy models such as Activa Smart are equipped with improved powder drawers with more compartments:
- for pre-wash;
- for basic modes (a special tray, included with the machine, is used for pouring liquids);
- for bleaching agents;
- for liquid additional products (softeners, conditioners, fragrances).
To ensure the detergent dispenser is delivered to the drum on time and in the right amount, the detergent drawer needs to be cleaned regularly. Without proper care, the drawer will become clogged, moldy, and cause an unpleasant odor. Avoiding this problem is simple: simply remove the dispenser from the housing, soak it in a baking soda or lemon solution, and return it to its place.
But it's always best to take care of the detergent drawer. It's recommended to leave the drawer open after each wash to dry and clean out any undissolved detergent residue.
Finding the right program
Most washing machines have roughly the same set of washing programs. The only difference is that budget machines only have a basic set of modes, while more expensive machines offer additional options and features. All information about the machine's capacity and capabilities, along with a breakdown and description, is always provided in the manufacturer's instructions.
You can navigate the modes without the manual—the control panel features icons and labels that help you intuitively navigate the buttons. The desired program is activated by turning the selector, after which the LED lights up, and the display shows the washing parameters. Some machines offer additional adjustments to the heating temperature or spin intensity.
To start a wash on a Candy, you need to load the laundry into the drum, add detergent, and activate the program.
As a rule, the mode is determined depending on the type of fabric of the clothes being washed:
- durable fabrics (cotton, linen) – they require intensive washing, high temperatures, abundant rinsing and high-speed spinning;
- blended fabrics (synthetics, mixtures) – short cycle, temperature up to 40 degrees, medium intensity spin;
- Delicate materials (silk, wool) – gentle wash, deep rinse, heating up to 30 degrees, minimum spin.

The latest machines, such as the Candy Activa Smart, offer additional features. For example, pressing the "Super Speed" button significantly reduces cycle time. There's also a "Hand Wash" mode, which provides the gentlest wash possible with plenty of water. The "Eco" program is considered universal, as it gently cleans any type of fabric. The purpose of other top-of-the-line options, such as "Super Fast," "Special Rinse," and "Intensive Spin," can be guessed from their names. It's worth mentioning that the smart system can independently control the water volume and drum rotation speed, analyzing the weight of the laundry and adjusting accordingly.
If you select the wrong program, you don't have to wait for the cycle to end. Simply press "Start" again, turn the selector to the "Off" position, wait for the settings to reset, and restart the wash cycle.
Sorting and bookmarking things
The sorting of laundry also affects the quality of washing. Before loading into the drum, all dirty items must be carefully sorted by color and type of fabric.This makes it easier to choose the right cycle without ruining your clothes.
It's also important to load your washing machine correctly. Just because your machine has a 5 kg capacity doesn't mean you need to load the same amount of laundry for every wash. This value is only valid for dry cotton items; synthetics and wool weigh more, so the maximum load is different. Modern washing machines can automatically weigh the clothes in the drum and alert you if they're overweight. Otherwise, you'll need to guess.
It's recommended to leave about 1/3 of the drum empty, or about half for delicate fabrics. This will ensure your laundry is thoroughly rinsed and won't look wrinkled.
During the sorting process it is also necessary:
- carefully read all labels, check the manufacturer's recommended temperature and spin intensity;
- check your pockets, remove trash and foreign objects;
- cordon off all removable parts, decoration, trim;
- sew up all holes, secure loose buttons;
- turn things inside out;
- fasten all zippers and buttons;
- wash out difficult stains.

It's not advisable to place crumpled items in the drum. Firstly, it makes stains harder to remove. Secondly, crumpled clothes, especially heavy ones, often cause imbalance. Small underwear, bras, panties, and blouses should be placed in special protective bags. Down jackets and parkas should be washed with special silicone balls to prevent the insulation from clumping.
Modern models like the Candy ActivaSmart feature a reload function. Simply hold down the "Start" button, wait for the door to unlock, open the drum, and add any forgotten items. You can similarly remove any extra clothing or accidentally dropped passports or keys. Afterward, restart the program, which will resume where it left off. It's logical to use this feature from the start.
Activate the program
When you first start up a newly purchased Candy, you'll have to put in extra effort. First, you need to remove the shipping bolts and other protective elements, stickers, foam, and tape. Second, level the machine by adjusting the feet with a spirit level. Third, check that the hoses and power cord are securely connected. Be sure to read the safety instructions before washing.
Before starting Candy for the first time, you need to remove the transport bolts, level the body and run the machine idle.
Before the first wash, it's important to clean the machine of any factory grease. Activate the special program, or if one isn't available, select the "Cotton" setting at maximum temperature with a double rinse. Run the machine through the cycle without laundry, but with detergent.
After the preparation, the machine can be started in normal mode:
- load the laundry;
- add detergent;
- select a program;
- look at the display, which should show the weight of the laundry, the water heating temperature and the duration of the cycle;
- if necessary, set up a delayed start of the cycle;
- Click on "Start".
Typically, the machine will sound a beep to indicate the end of the cycle. However, for safety reasons, the door will remain locked for a short time after the wash cycle. After 2-3 minutes, you can open the machine and remove your items.
After use, unplug the washing machine and turn off the water supply until the next wash cycle. Then, carefully inspect the drum for any forgotten items. Finally, open the door and powder drawer to dry. It is advisable to wipe the cuff dry at the same time to prevent mold from forming. You can also wipe the body with a dry cloth to remove dust and condensation.
