We are putting the new machine into operation
A Gorenje washing machine just delivered from the store isn't ready for washing. Before starting the first cycle, it needs to be prepared. First, let the machine sit at room temperature for several hours, then remove any factory stickers and markings. Then, remove the shipping bolts and connect to the power grid. It's important to follow the instructions, taking into account all safety regulations and requirements.
Before using the Gorenje washing machine, it is necessary to remove the transport bolts – it is prohibited to turn on the machine without removing them!
Once the washing machine is connected to the power supply, you can start it. But don't rush to load the laundry—you should first "run" the machine. This is a maintenance cycle, which is always performed on a high-temperature program with the drum empty but with detergent. This will solve three problems at once:
- the machine will be washed from factory grease and dust;
- the characteristic chemical smell will go away;
- The washing machine will be checked for proper operation (whether water is being drawn in, whether the tank is being emptied, whether the heating element is working, etc.)
Sometimes, starting a wash cycle doesn't work the first time. Typically, the machine's failure is explained by an error code on the display. More often, the problem is a loose door, which is too hard to push against the machine's body out of habit. It is rare, but it happens that the machine does not turn on due to a manufacturing defect, installation problems or other malfunction.In such cases, it is advisable to contact a service center for diagnostics.

If the technical start-up was successful and no problems were detected, you can run a regular wash cycle. However, if any high-temperature program was used the first time, you should carefully select the mode the second time. When choosing the appropriate button, consider the type and color of the laundry, as well as the degree of soiling.

Modern Gorenje machines offer users a wide range of programs, including dozens of basic and unique modes. However, beginners can easily get lost among the plethora of buttons and lights on the dashboard. However, deciphering the symbols is very simple – just open the relevant section of the manufacturer's manual and study the machine's functionality. To start a wash cycle with laundry, follow these steps:
- We insert the Gorenje power cord into the socket;
- we turn on the water tap;
- Place pre-sorted laundry into the drum (remember the minimum and maximum load weight);
- close the hatch tightly;
- open the powder compartment and add detergent (we will describe in detail below where and how much);
- press the "On" button;
- scroll the programmer to the desired program;
- We start the cycle by pressing “Start/Pause”.
That's it! All that's left to do is wait for the machine to complete the cycle, signaling the end of the program with a beep. But even after the beep, don't rush to open the hatch right away—the electronic lock only releases after 3-5 minutes.
Add detergent
Choosing the right washing mode is only half the battle. The other half is in the detergent. It's important to choose and add the right amount of detergent, otherwise your laundry won't be clean or, conversely, will remain soapy. Here are a few tips to help you avoid mistakes:
- choose natural compositions, preferably helium ones;
- dose the product correctly, following the instructions for the powder;
- use measuring spoons and caps;
- Do not confuse the compartments of the powder receptacle.
The last point is among the most important. Most Gorenje washing machines have a dispenser with three compartments. The one on the left is for the main wash, and the one on the far right is for the pre-wash. The central compartment is for liquid detergents, fabric softeners, and conditioners only. Mixing up the compartments will significantly reduce wash quality.
Use the machine with care.
Modern washing machines are attractive for their simple and intuitive controls. Gorenje is no exception – just reading the manual is enough to understand how it works. But in order for the machine to serve for a long time and without problems, it is necessary not only to know how to turn on the system, but also to properly care for the equipment. - Wipe the Gorenje body, door seal and drum after each use.
- After washing, leave the hatch door and tray open to allow natural drying.
- Do not store objects, especially heavy ones, on the lid.
- Do not adjust the settings after the wash has started – the electronics may freeze.
- Measure the hardness of your tap water and use softeners if necessary.
