Bosch dishwasher wash time

Bosch dishwasher wash timeHow long does the average dishwasher take to wash dishes? Many users ask this question when considering purchasing a "home helper." In reality, cycle times will vary significantly depending on the selected program. Let's explore the modes available in modern Bosch dishwashers.

Modes and their duration

All information about Bosch dishwasher programs is available in the equipment instructions. Washing times will vary greatly depending on the algorithm you choose. The memory contains both short modes and long cycles lasting more than two hours.

Before putting the dishwasher into operation, it is recommended to study the equipment manual to understand what algorithms are programmed into the machine's memory.

Let's break down the main Bosch dishwasher programs by duration. While slight variations are possible depending on the model, the cycle times are generally the same.

  • ECO mode. This program is designed for moderately soiled dishes. Water and kilowatt consumption are minimal when running this program, averaging 10 liters and 0.97 kWh. When heating water to 50°C, the cycle lasts 120 minutes. If you activate the "Vario Speed" option, the cycle lasts 80 minutes.
  • Intensive Wash. This program is designed for heavily soiled dishes. It includes an additional soaking stage. The wash temperature reaches 70°C. Four rinse cycles are then performed, followed by drying. The program duration is 2 to 3 hours, depending on the Bosch dishwasher model.
  • Normal. This program includes a pre-rinse, a wash at 65°C, an intermediate rinse, a final rinse, and drying. Suitable for cleaning pots, pans, and plates. The cycle lasts approximately two hours.
  • Delicate. This program is designed for cleaning delicate dishes. It's ideal for crystal, porcelain, ceramics, and glass. The cycle lasts approximately three hours.Bosch PMM programs
  • Quick Wash (Express). This cycle is for lightly soiled dishes. It effectively tackles fresh stains. The dishwasher heats water to 45°C and skips the drying phase. The cycle lasts from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the Bosch model.
  • Night program. In this case, the water is heated to 50°C. The cycle lasts from 235 to 240 minutes. This is the longest program available on Bosch dishwashers.
  • Rinse. Can be run as a separate program. Program duration is 15-20 minutes. This mode ensures complete removal of detergent residue from dishes.
  • Self-cleaning. A mode designed for dishwasher maintenance. When starting the program, the dishwasher should be empty. Either a special detergent or citric acid is added to the dispenser. The hopper itself, the water heating container, and the liquid distribution system are cleaned of bacteria.

Bosch dishwashers also have additional features that affect program execution time. What options are we talking about?

  • Time Saving (VarioSpeed). When activated, the basic program time is reduced by 20-50%, depending on the algorithm.
  • Hygiene Plus. When this option is enabled, the temperature in the wash chamber increases and is maintained for a very long time. This ensures a disinfecting effect. The program run time is extended by 15-25 minutes.
  • Half Load. This function is activated when you only need to wash a small amount of dishes. It saves water and energy, and reduces the washing time.half load PMM Bosch
  • Extra drying. In this case, dishes are rinsed at a higher temperature. Drying takes a few minutes longer, which helps ensure better drying of cutlery.

As you can see, the dishwasher's washing time varies greatly depending on the selected program. It's important to select the program based on the degree of soiling and the type of dishes. There's no point in washing cutlery with stuck-on food on the fast cycle—the dishwasher may not be able to handle the task.

Stages of dishwashing

The process of cleaning dishes in a machine is not much different from washing cutlery by hand. The standard cycle includes a wash, rinse and dry stage. Depending on the program, soaking may be added to them.

Each stage of the cycle takes a certain amount of time. Much depends on the temperature of the water in the wash chamber. The higher the wash temperature, the longer the cycle.

On average, the wash itself takes from 15 to 35 minutes, the rest of the time is spent heating the water, rinsing and drying.

Rinsing is a crucial step. Detergent remains on dishes, and if it's not rinsed away, it will be "eaten" by family members. Household chemicals can cause irreparable harm to health.the dishes become shiny

On average, a dishwasher takes 20-25 minutes to rinse. To ensure complete removal of detergent particles from cutlery, you can activate the "Extra Rinse" function. This will extend the rinse cycle by another 15-20 minutes.

At the end of the program, the machine dries the dishes. Jets of warm air are directed at the cutlery. This stage continues for another 15-20 minutes. This feature is available on all Bosch models, but it is not available in the accelerated modes.

Bosch dishwashers therefore vary in the amount of time they spend washing dishes. You can run either an express cycle lasting 40 minutes or a long night cycle lasting around four hours. This depends on the user's preferences and the degree of soiling of the dishes.

Eco mode for everyone is usually about 3 hours, not 120 minutes.

The standard time is 1 hour for washing, the rest is rinsing or soaking.
