Overview of 60 cm built-in dishwashers

60 cm dishwasher"How did I ever live before?!" exclaim the happy owners of dishwashers. They seemed to get by without them, but their introduction changes everything completely. And if you look closely, the range and number of different dishwasher models on the market is only growing, which only means one thing: demand for these products is high. While 60 cm dishwashers aren't the most popular, they offer a wealth of advantages, which we'll discuss in this article.

Types of built-in dishwashers

Dishwashers with a width of 60 cm are either fully integrated or partially integrated. Depending on the dimensions, these are either full-size machines with a height of 82-83 cm and a depth of 55-60 cm, or compact machines, which are shorter than full-size machines at 48-60 cm.

As a rule, full-size models are the most capacious, their loading capacity can be up to 17 sets, the average capacity of machines is 13-15 sets.

The main advantage of such dishwashers is that they can be used to wash large pans, pots and baking sheets. Moreover, full-size machines often have more programs and additional features. Compact models, 60 cm wide, are designed for 6-8 place settings. Their main advantage is that they require less space. People even install them under the sink when other options are lacking.

German dishwashers Bosch and Siemens

Bosch appliances are among the most popular on the market, especially when it comes to dishwashers. All 60 cm wide built-in models can be divided into three categories based on the number of modes:

  1. basic models with 3-4 washing programs;
  2. optimal, having 5 programs;
  3. Advanced models with 6 to 8 modes and additional functions.

Examples of Bosch's entry-level models include dishwashers labeled SMV 30D30, SMV 47L10, and SMV 48M30. The Bosch SMV 30D30 is perhaps the noisiest of the bunch, with a noise rating of 52 dB. Washing 12 dishes requires 14 liters of water and 1.05 kWh of energy. This machine isn't exactly energy-efficient. It offers "Economy," "Normal," and "Quick" modes. It also features indicators for low detergent levels and an audible signal at program end. However, leak protection is only partial, which isn't surprising for a budget model.

The four-program dishwashers in this series are considered more capable. The Bosch SMV 47L10 is designed for 13 place settings, while the Bosch SMV 48M30 is designed for 14. Water consumption is reduced to 12 liters in the former and 10 liters in the latter. Furthermore, the SMV 48M30 is quiet, with a noise level of 46 dB. The four programs include "Intensive," "Quick," "Economic," and "Automatic." Thanks to the water purity sensor, the machine automatically selects the washing time and amount of detergent. These are decent models with a full protection system. The slight difference in technical specifications is reflected in the price: the SMV 47L10 costs $360, while the SMV 48M30 costs $450.

The Bosch SMV 59T10 and Bosch SMV 59T20 five-program dishwashers operate very quietly, producing a noise level of just 44 dB. The first fully integrated model uses 9 liters of water to wash 13 place settings, while the second, with a capacity of 14 place settings, uses 11 liters. Both models are fully protected and feature condensation drying.

Please note! These models feature a pre-soak mode, allowing you to effortlessly wash dishes that have accumulated throughout the day.

In our opinion, the fully integrated SMV 59T10 model wins in terms of functionality, as its five modes, in addition to automatic ones, include a "delicate" mode (for crystal and fragile dishes) and an intensive mode. Furthermore, the VarioSpeed function allows you to reduce washing time by increasing the water flow rate, if needed. Availability heat exchanger will provide better drying performance. But all these seemingly minor improvements cost $890, while the SMV 59T20 costs $520. The price difference is significant.

Let's consider premium built-in models with advanced features, such as the Bosch SMV 69T90 and Bosch SMI 88TS11R. Both dishwashers can easily wash 14 place settings using 10 liters of water. The noise level of the former with 6 settings is 42 dB, while the latter with 8 settings is only 41 dB (this is the lowest Bosch can achieve).

These built-in dishwashers not only feature a safety system, detergent indicator lights, and timer indicators, but also other perks in the form of additional features. For example, the SMV 69T90 model has a HygienePlus function, which, in addition to hot water, also uses hot steam to clean dishes. The SMI 88TS11R model also features this function:

  • VarioSpeedPlus (reduces washing time by 66%);
  • Extra Drying;
  • Night program.

So, the Bosch SMV 69T90 model beats the five-program SMV 59T10 model in every way, even in price. It retails for $840. The advanced built-in SMI 88TS11R dishwasher costs around $950.

We decided not to ignore German built-in dishwashers from Siemens, which are manufactured under the control of the Bosch concern. However, despite this, they have their own unique features.

Take the Siemens SK 76M544, for example, a partially integrated dishwasher with a display located on the front. Washing six place settings requires approximately 8 liters of water. The machine is quite quiet (45 dB) and features a full safety system. Another advantage of this model is its reduced energy consumption – only 0.62 kW/h. Six wash programs ensure superior cleaning results, and the height-adjustable basket makes loading a variety of dishes easy. This built-in dishwasher is ideal for a small kitchen, with a width of 60 cm and a height of 45.4 cm. However, the stylish design and German quality come at a price of $560.

The Siemens SC 76M522 dishwasher is slightly larger than its predecessor, measuring 60 cm in width and 60 cm in height. This allows it to clean dishes for up to 8 people using only 9 liters of water. A plus is that it even fits baking sheets. The Siemens SC 76M522 is partially built-in. Its functionality is identical to the model described above. Price: $580.

The Siemens SN 64D070 is a fully integrated full-size dishwasher. It can clean dishes for 13 people in approximately 140 minutes, using 12 liters of water. Its technical specifications are comparable to Bosch's four-program dishwashers. There is a downside: it is a bit noisy (50 dB) and energy-intensive (1.05 kW/h). But all the basic functions, indicators, and audible alerts are present. The security system is also complete. And yet, the Siemens SN 64D07 costs $360, compared to the Bosch SMV 48M30, which costs $450.

Hansa dishwashers

Many people think that 60 cm wide built-in dishwashers from the Chinese manufacturer Hansa are unreliable and will break down immediately after purchase. There's some truth to this—Chinese appliances aren't as reliable as German ones, but there are undeniable models that last for years. Users have also noted this, and here are a few examples.

The Hansa ZIM 628 EH is a fully integrated, 60 cm wide dishwasher that can wash dishes for 14 people in 140 minutes using 12 liters of water. This dishwasher isn't particularly noisy, clocking in at just 47 dB. Most notably, it has 8 programs, making it suitable for washing crystal and other delicate dishes. The machine can use both regular detergents and 3-in-1 tablets. A full safety system ensures protection against leaks. For $240, this is a truly exceptional package.
Hansa 60 cm dishwasher

Hansa ZIM 636 EH – this fully integrated dishwasher model differs from the previous one:

  • number of programs – only 6;
  • protection against water leakage – only partial;
  • start delay time – from 3 to 9 hours (in the previous model from 1 to 24 hours);
  • water consumption – 13 l;
  • there is no sound signal at the end;
  • and accordingly the price is $210.

Dishwashers from Electrolux

Electrolux offers a wide range of built-in dishwashers with a width of 60 cm. These dishwashers are not as popular as German ones, but they also have their own niche of consumers.

The Electrolux ESL 6380 RO is a fully integrated dishwasher with a 12-place setting capacity. This machine offers six wash cycles, with a pre-soak option if needed. It operates quietly. It features indicators, a floor light, and a glass holder, but lacks full leak protection. And the price is quite high at $590.

The Electrolux ESL 6810 RO dishwasher is also fully integrated, but with superior technical specifications. It's virtually silent during operation, producing just 42 dB. It uses 10 liters of water for 12 place settings. Additionally, the choice of programs has been increased to 8, and there's convenient interior lighting. The turbo dryer ensures high-quality drying. This well-worth-buy model costs just $400.
