Height of outlet from floor for dishwasher
When purchasing household appliances, consider their placement and the availability of all necessary utilities while still selecting a model. This is especially important when purchasing a dishwasher: its dimensions must match the niche where it will be installed, including the drainage, water supply, and power connections. Ensuring the correct placement and height of the dishwasher outlet is crucial, as poor or improper installation can cause significant problems and inconveniences in the near future.
How many cm from the floor should the socket be located?
When choosing a location for an outlet, several parameters are taken into account.
- Height. Optimal height is 10–50 cm from the floor surface. If the flooring and baseboards are made of flammable materials, the outlet should be located as far away from them as possible.
- Access. It's best to keep the outlet out of reach of children. If the distance from the floor is 10 cm or more, a child can easily reach the cord and pull the plug. Therefore, experts recommend placing it within the upper limits. This will also allow for easy disconnection in emergency situations or before long trips.
- Aesthetics. Electrical outlets can be hidden behind furniture or placed in the open. Outlets that are all in the same style and positioned at the same level look neat. However, if the room's style calls for it, you can vary them, which will also add a touch of flair to the design.
- Cord length. The appliance doesn't support replacing the factory cord, so if it doesn't reach the outlet, it should be moved closer.

When installing a socket, all the features of the room, the style of furniture, the presence of small family members, and animals are taken into account, so there are many placement options. It is important that it is not located too low, as sparks could easily ignite the baseboard or wooden flooring if a fire occurs.
A cord running from a potential kitchen cabinet to an outlet would also be unsightly if the dishwasher is built-in. In this case, it's recommended to hide the electrical outlet behind the cabinet, but still allow access.
Don't limit yourself to replacing the old outlet
The location of the outlet should be determined in advance, even before purchasing the appliance. If the outlet is located far from the niche where the appliance will be installed, it will need to be moved closer. If the quality of the old outlet is questionable or shows signs of exposure to fire or power surges, it must be replaced with a new one that meets modern safety standards.
The ideal solution is to not only install a new permanent electrical outlet but also replace the entire length of the wire, all the way to the meter. This way, you can be sure the equipment will operate smoothly and won't cause a short circuit in the old wiring.
New electrical wiring with a sufficient cross-section will significantly improve the safety of the dishwasher.
The installation of the outlet should be entrusted to a professional electrician, who will carry out the installation in accordance with all electrical codes and regulations (PUE, GOST, and SP). It is also recommended to install a separate circuit breaker for the dedicated 10-16 A line.
