How to remove a Bosch built-in dishwasher

How to remove a Bosch built-in dishwasherIf you successfully conceal your appliances in a kitchen cabinet, you might even forget you even need to remove the dishwasher from its niche. While your "home helper" truly feels like part of your interior, there are rare occasions when you'll need to remove it immediately, which isn't an easy task without extensive experience or specialized training. Today, we'll take a detailed look at how to properly remove a Bosch built-in dishwasher so you can handle it yourself without calling a professional.

Why dismantle the PMM?

Removing a built-in dishwasher, carefully installed directly into a kitchen cabinet, is a thankless task, but sometimes it has to be done. There are three main reasons.

  • Dishwasher repair. This is the most unpleasant, yet most common, reason. If something happens to an expensive appliance, the only way to repair it is to remove it from its niche, thus providing full access to all its components.Bosch dishwasher repair
  • Replacing the device. The second reason is much more pleasant, as it's always good to purchase more modern equipment that can perform its functions even better.

An old dishwasher can be sold to partially recoup its value and invest in a new appliance. However, in this case, the old appliance must be removed very carefully to avoid damaging the fasteners or internal components.

  • Kitchen renovation. The last reason, while also a welcome one, is far less common than the first two. For some, a complete kitchen renovation, including replacing the cabinetry, only happens once in a lifetime, and for others, never at all. In such circumstances, you'll have to carefully remove the built-in dishwasher, and then all the cabinetry.

Whatever the reason for dismantling, the dishwasher should be removed carefully so that it can be easily replaced in its new location.

It's cheaper to do everything yourself.

Most housewives don't bother with dismantling at all, and immediately call a service center specialist if they need to quickly remove old equipment for some reason. However, removing the "home helper" yourself is not as difficult as it might seem at first, plus, it will also allow you to save on calling a specialist.

Doing the work yourself is much more cost-effective, especially financially, as technicians typically charge around $20 for dismantling. If the unit needs to be inspected or repaired afterward, the first fee will be followed by a second and third. This saves not only money but also time, as service center technicians are rarely available on the same day and hour, so the visit can extend for several days or weeks.A dishwasher doesn't save money.

Another pleasant bonus is the opportunity to exercise independence and resolve the issue yourself. In this case, there's no harm in doing so, as you'll have our detailed instructions, described in the next section.

PMM dismantling progress

So, you're mentally prepared to remove the dishwasher yourself, which means all that's left to do is gather up the screwdrivers and wrenches. To do this, examine the dishwasher's fasteners and gather the appropriately sized tools. Once everything is ready, let's get started.

  • Disconnect the equipment from the power supply.
  • Close the shut-off valve of the machine.
  • Carefully unscrew all the bolts from the bottom panel of the machine. How to extend a dishwasher inlet hose
  • Disconnect the filler hose by first unscrewing the nut that holds the hose.

At this stage, it is best to have a basin on hand to catch any water that may leak out during the dismantling process.

  • Now remove the fasteners from the junction box to gain access to the cover.
  • Be sure to take a photo of the correct wiring connections before disconnecting all the wires.
  • Remove the fasteners and remove the bolt from the bracket to allow the cable to be pulled out.
  • Using a screwdriver, loosen the sealing ring and pull out the cable itself.
  • Move to your kitchen sink where you need to find the drain location where your drain hose is connected.disconnect the drain hose from the sewer
  • It is necessary to loosen the retaining clamps, remove the sleeve and pull it through the kitchen cabinet.
  • Open the bin door slightly to unscrew the fasteners that secure the machine body to the kitchen cabinet.
  • Pay attention to the dishwasher legs, which may have been screwed on for additional fixation.
  • Once the legs are released, carefully pull the “home helper” towards you to remove it from the niche.

If you have a fully integrated dishwasher with a hinged door, you'll also need to remove the front panel by unscrewing the screws around the door from inside the wash chamber. As you can see, there's no need to call a professional; anyone can handle this simple task if they follow the instructions carefully.
