Japanese washing machines

Washing machines of German, Italian, Russian and even Chinese manufacture are very popular.

Japanese automatic washing machines, however, are much less common. Let's discuss which brands are produced in Japan, what distinguishes them from other machines, and how much they cost.

Peculiarities

Washing machines produced in Japan for the domestic market have their own unique characteristics. Machines exported to Europe do not have these characteristics. Here's how they differ from other machines:

• Japanese washing machines wash in cold water, they don't heat the water, The maximum washing temperature in such machines is +30 degrees. And the clothes wash perfectly. The Japanese are fanatical about cleanliness and won't tolerate even the slightest dirt on their clothes. So why do they wash in cold water? It's because the water in Japan is purified and potable, and adding detergent to this water cleans clothes in no time. Meanwhile, in Europe, tap water is not generally drinkable, and besides, it's too hard for washing.
• Japanese cars have a very short water drain hose, and in most cases it is drained by gravity.
  

  Important! The machines are installed on a special tray, which also contains the drain. This has the advantage of preventing leaks. However, you can't drain the water into the bathtub with this type of machine.

• Japanese machines are among the most expensive, costing between $1,000 and $2,000, perhaps one of the reasons is that many of them are equipped with a drying mode;
• Most older Japanese models are top-loading machines, where the powder is placed directly into the drum. Front-loading washing machines are state-of-the-art technology equipped with various technologies.

Review

Buying a Japanese-made washing machine in Russia is practically impossible, unless you buy it secondhand. As of 2016, such machines are not available online; at least, we haven't found any.

Please note! Panasonic is considered the most famous Japanese brand, but other Japanese brands include Sharp, Shivaki, Akai, and Hitachi. These brands often conceal washing machines made in China or Russia, rather than Japan.

Here are some examples of cars from Japan.

Panasonic NA-16VX1. This premium washing machine is white with an eye-catching silver door. It features a large display that displays all the useful information about your wash cycle. Now, on to the technical specifications:

• loading type – front;
• drum capacity for washing 7 kg;
• maximum spin – 1600 rpm;
• number of modes – 16, including washing without spinning, easy ironing and stain removal;
• water consumption is 44 l;
• the machine is equipped with a safety system against leaks (partial protection), from children, from power surges;

The main feature implemented in this machine is Beat Wash technology with a 3D sensor. The machine drum has a 10 degree tilt. This technology prevents wrinkles and twisting. Water is released into the drum in small, pressurized streams, effectively removing fabric and dirt.

Panasonic NA-14VA1. This model is not much different from the previous one, it is also freestanding and has a removable top cover for under-counter installationThe number of modes and water consumption are similar, but the maximum spin speed is 1400. Low noise and energy consumption are another advantage of these models.

Please note! Panasonic machines undergo rigorous durability and reliability testing. They must withstand at least 5,000 washes, and the door can be opened at least 20,000 times during their lifetime. The machines are tested with a 24-hour wash cycle. Therefore, their reliability is beyond doubt.

The Akai AWD 1200 GF is a freestanding washer-dryer. It has a 6 kg drum capacity for washing and 3 kg for spinning. It spins at 1200 rpm and offers 11 preset wash cycles, including fur and down. A fault indicator helps you quickly identify the cause of a malfunction. Water consumption is only 42 liters. Energy efficiency and washing performance are class A, and spinning is class B. Fully leak- and child-proof. The silver color of this model perfectly complements modern kitchen design. A drawback is the strong vibration.

The Hitachi BD-W80PAE is a freestanding, full-size washing machine with a removable lid for built-in installation. It has an 8 kg drum capacity and a 1200 rpm spin speed. Its 15 programs allow you to wash even the most delicate items, including stain removal programs. It features partial leak protection and a child safety lock. The average price is around $570.

So, Japanese technology, due to its unique features and high price, hasn't gained popularity on the Russian market. But that doesn't mean it's completely impossible to find or import from neighboring countries. The main thing is to be careful not to buy a counterfeit!
