How to manually fill a washing machine with water?

How to manually fill a washing machine with waterWhat should you do if the water supply is out and you need to wash a whole load of clothes urgently? When you don't want to rinse your shirts, dresses, and other items in a basin, you can still use a washing machine. The only problem is that you'll have to manually fill the washer. We'll explain how to properly fill the tank in this situation.

How to accomplish this?

In reality, manually filling the tank of an automatic washing machine isn't all that easy. It's quite a painstaking task. However, if you absolutely need the help of a machine, you can still resort to this method.

How do you use a washing machine when the water supply to your home is out? The steps are as follows:

  • load the laundry into the drum;
  • fill a bucket with warm water (no need to pour hot water, the machine will heat it up to the desired temperature);
  • open the powder drawer by pulling the tray out as far as possible;
  • add washing powder or pour gel into the main wash compartment;
  • Without closing the dispenser, select the required washing mode and start the cycle;
  • Gradually pour the prepared water into the machine through the detergent drawer. Rinse out all the detergent. Fill the machine relatively quickly and carefully to avoid splashing the machine or the surrounding floor.

Please note that the inlet valve will hum until the tank is filled with water to the required level.

The automatic washing machine won't display an error. Even though the water inlet valve will remain idle, the pressure switch will monitor the tank's fill level. As soon as the water level rises to the desired level, the machine will begin washing as if nothing had happened.pour water into the powder tray

After this, you can leave the machine alone. The length of time the main wash will take depends on the selected program. If you're using the quick mode, you'll need to return to the machine after just 8-10 minutes.

So, it is important not to miss the moment when the washing machine drains the used liquid from the tank. Next, you need to pour clean water into the washing machine again through the rinsing tray. Once this stage is complete, the appliance will seamlessly move on to the spin cycle. If the program includes an additional rinse, you'll need to refill the appliance.

The main problem users may encounter is the need to fill the water quickly enough to prevent the level sensor and control module from detecting a problem. On average, a bucket should be poured into a washing machine within 12-17 seconds.

There is no running water at all

People living in private homes without running water have long figured out how to use their washing machines normally without having to fill the tank manually. Another option is to connect an automatic washing machine to a tank with clean water. The following equipment will be useful during the work:

  • indicator screwdriver;
  • roulette;
  • building level;
  • knife;
  • adjustable wrench;
  • sealing thread.

You also need to take care of the materials. You will need:

  • a container of the required size (a 50-100 liter plastic barrel will do);
  • tee tap;plastic barrel and tap
  • flow filter;
  • pump (for pumping water from a barrel into an automatic washing machine);
  • hose;
  • clamps;
  • sealing rubber bands;
  • metal profiles or wooden blocks.

The length of the water supply hose, the pump power, and the type of tee will depend on specific conditions. For example, the model of the washing machine being connected, the distance from the water tank, and so on. Predicting all the minor installation details is quite difficult. Let's look at how to connect the washing machine to a water tank. The procedure is as follows:

  • install the washing machine level near the socket;
  • build a stand for the barrel from metal profiles or wooden blocks (400-500 mm high);
  • Place a water tank in close proximity to the machine, placing the container on a stand;connection to a water barrel
  • cut a hole in the tank wall that is sized to fit the thread and diameter of the tee tap;
  • insert a seal into the hole and install the tap;
  • connect the pump to the tee and the water hose to the pump;
  • Using an adapter, connect the hose to the filling pipe of the machine;
  • secure the connections with clamps;
  • Install a flow filter in front of the machine's water intake valve.

It is better to provide a hinged lid for the barrel to prevent debris and dust from getting into the water.

Once you've invested the time to install a permanent water supply, you'll no longer have to manually pour water into the detergent dispenser. The washing machine will draw liquid from the reservoir for both washing and rinsing. This connection option is very convenient.

    Doesn't the machine suck up water on its own? Does it require a pump?

    I don't understand why complicate things by installing an additional water supply pump? What if the water tank is simply raised and secured above the machine?
