How to change the motor in a Bosch washing machine?

How to replace a Bosch washing machine motorWhen a Bosch washing machine stops working, it's time to thoroughly diagnose it and consider repairs. Anything can fail—the belt, the electronics, the motor, etc. The motor is the most difficult part to repair, so if it malfunctions, it's best to contact a professional. If you want to replace the motor yourself, our instructions will help. The key is to follow the instructions carefully and in accordance with the instructions.

We extract and check the engine

The first step is to run a diagnostic. To do this, you'll need to carefully examine the motor structure of your Bosch washing machine. It uses a brushed-type motor, which is compact and relatively powerful. The rotation is driven by a drive belt connecting the drum pulley.

The motor's internal structure consists of several components: a rotor, a stator, and two brushes. The speed is controlled by a special sensor located on top. Technicians test the "iron heart" of a Bosch washing machine using various methods. But to begin operation, the motor must be removed from the housing:

  • remove the back wall, having first unscrewed the bolts;
  • loosen and remove the drive belt, while doing this it is necessary to rotate the drum pulley;
  • disconnect the wiring going to the washing machine motor;
  • Unscrew the bolts and carefully remove the engine, rocking it from side to side.

Important! If you're new to replacing the engine yourself, take a photo of the wire connections. This will help you reinstall the part correctly.

After removing the washing machine motor, you can begin diagnosing it. To do this, connect the wires from the stator and rotor windings. Then apply 220 volts to them. If the motor rotates, you can conclude that the problem is not with the motor, as it is functioning properly.removing and checking the engine

This testing method has certain drawbacks. Specifically, the diagnostics will be incomplete, since a Bosch washing machine actually operates in multiple modes, not just one. Furthermore, the motor may overheat due to being connected directly to the power supply, causing a short circuit. To reduce the risk, it is better to connect the heating element from the machine to the circuit, thereby protecting the engine during testing.

We are making a replacement

If the motor winding is damaged or other components are faulty, you'll have to replace the entire motor. This is much easier and more cost-effective than repairing the old motor. How do you replace it yourself? To do this, you'll need to purchase a new motor for your Bosch washing machine. It must be fully functional and ready for use.

The installation process is similar to the instructions above:

  • install the motor in place and secure it with bolts;
  • connect the wiring (if you previously took a photo of the location of the wires, use this picture to avoid mistakes);we purchase and install a new motor
  • put the drum pulley drive belt back in place and tighten it;
  • Install the back panel of the washing machine and screw in the bolts.

After replacing the motor, you can test run your Bosch washing machine. If you replaced the motor correctly, there shouldn't be any issues. Otherwise, it's best to contact a technician.
