Bosch Dishwasher Pump Replacement
After each cycle, the dishwasher drains all waste water into the sewer system, which is done by the drain pump. If the drain stops working at some point, you'll need to repair or replace your Bosch dishwasher's pump. This is necessary to prevent dirty water from accumulating in your dishwasher and to prevent the dishwasher from freezing during operation, which would interfere with cleaning dirty dishes. We'll explain how to properly restore your dishwasher's functionality in this situation.
Let's gather everything we need
It is believed that most repair work can be done by hand, as it only requires a few standard screwdrivers and a new part to replace the broken one. This is a minimal set, but you can also prepare pliers, a regular multimeter and an awl to make replacing the pump even easier. Pliers are useful for tightening the fasteners holding the dishwasher's drain pump, screwdrivers are needed to remove the retaining screws, and an awl is needed to pry up the appliance's panels. Finally, a multimeter will help measure resistance and thus accurately pinpoint the faulty components.
Before repairing or replacing the drain pump or circulation pump, it's important to thoroughly prepare the machine. Here's what you need to do to ensure a successful repair.
- Disconnect the Bosch dishwasher from all utilities.
- Unscrew the lower decorative strip, which is located directly under the dishwasher door.
- Disconnect the inlet hoses from the unit body.
- Pull the dishwasher forward a little and disconnect the drain hose from the siphon.

- Lay cellophane, rags or unnecessary towels on the floor, and then place the “home helper” on them.
This is how you can prepare your built-in Bosch dishwashers for repair yourself. The procedure for stand-alone models is similar, but removing them is much easier.
We will change the pump ourselves
Changing the pump is easy – it can be done in less than fifteen minutes. It is much more difficult to partially disassemble the “home helper” to gain access to the drain pump. Disassembly should be carried out strictly according to the instructions to avoid common beginner mistakes and accidental damage. Read our instructions carefully and follow them step by step.
- Open the dishwasher door and remove all the dish baskets and cutlery tray.

- Get out the sprinklers.
- Unscrew and remove the debris filter, which resembles a plastic cup.
- Remove the filter mesh.

- Unscrew the fasteners located under the mesh.
- Carefully turn the appliance over or tilt it on its side.
- Remove the side panels and plastic fasteners from it.
Don't forget to install the mounts back into place during reassembly after completing the work.
- Remove the insulation as it will interfere with your work.
- Remove the filler pipe and then the tray with the dishwasher components from the body.

- Disconnect all wired components in the tray. Just in case, take a photo of the correct wiring connections to all components.
- Finally, turn off the circulation pump by disconnecting all wires from it.

- On the side of the pump there is a pump that needs to be firmly grasped by hand and turned to the left half a turn to remove.

All that's left to do to replace the pump is find an original spare part that will fit your Bosch "home helper." You can write down the exact name of the dishwasher and its serial number to search for the pump online, or you can simply take the broken part as an example and take it to any store that sells dishwashers and parts for them.
Once you have the new part, install it according to our instructions in reverse order. Insert the element into the pump recess, turn it half a turn to the right, connect the wiring, and then all other components of the Bosch dishwasher. As you can see, you can replace it without calling a service center specialist—this will save you not only time but also your family budget.
