How to change a belt on a Samsung washing machine
Replacing a washing machine's drive belt is considered a moderately complex repair. It can easily be done at home, saving $5 to $10 on labor.
That's why we decided to describe how to replace the belt in a Samsung washing machine.
Replacement algorithm
First, disconnect the machine from the power supply and utilities to make it easier to position. The back of the machine should be facing you. Then follow the instructions:
- Unscrew the screws holding the back cover and remove it. In some models there may be no back cover, then remove the top cover, and all the work will have to be done through the top of the machine.
- Take a flat-head screwdriver and pry up the belt.
- Remove the belt from the pulley grooves by moving it slightly to the side.
- Holding the belt with one hand, turn the pulley with the other. This will cause the belt to slip off and allow you to pull it out of the car. If the belt is frayed and part of it is wrapped around the engine, be sure to remove all parts.
- Now we take a new belt.
Important! Buy a 5-groove belt measuring 127 cm, such as the Megaden belt. It's made of high-quality rubber and has nylon inserts.
- Place the belt on the engine pulley so that the grooves align. If you need to pass the belt through the top of the washing machine, use strong thread or a piece of an old belt. Tie it to the new belt and lower it into the car, holding it with one hand, put the belt on the engine with the other hand.
- Now pull the belt with one hand and place it on the side grooves of the pulley with the other hand.
- Keeping the belt taut, turn the pulley clockwise, the belt will fit.

- Check the operation by turning the pulley.
- Assemble the washing machine and run a test wash.
Symptoms of a faulty belt
The belt in a Samsung washing machine is a weak point. It wears out after just three years of use. This is because Samsung machines use a three-groove silicone belt, which leaves much to be desired in terms of durability. You can tell that the belt is faulty by the following symptoms:
- the drum of the washing machine does not rotate, although you hear the motor humming;
- when the drum is underloaded, the motor cannot rotate it, you see how the drum jerks and does not start rotating, this means that the belt has stretched;
- the drum stops rotating when fully loaded, but rotates well when lightly loaded;
- A faulty belt can be detected by a scraping sound, but this usually occurs when the belt has become delaminated and is rubbing against the machine body. This is dangerous because parts of the belt can catch on electrical wiring and damage it.
Therefore, don't delay replacing the belt. This type of malfunction needs to be addressed immediately. We hope you now know how to change the belt in a Samsung washing machine. The replacement part is available at any store for about $15. Read about other malfunctions of this brand's machines in the article. Samsung washing machine repair.

The video on replacing the belt without the back cover on a Samsung was very helpful. Thanks!
I struggled with the silicone strap for about 20 minutes until I heated it in hot water (not boiling). It snapped into place without a problem.
I put it on, thank you 🙂
We replaced the belt ourselves today! Thanks for the tips. We'd previously called a mechanic three times because the machine wouldn't spin. The first one suggested replacing the bearings. I refused, as the repairs were expensive. The second one replaced something for $20, but the same thing happened again. We called him again, and he said the Samsung was taking a long time to lay out the clothes. Then the drum stopped spinning completely. We decided to check it ourselves and discovered the belt had come off. We bought a new one and had a hard time installing it through the bottom of the machine because the side panels weren't removable. If we'd read your symptoms earlier, we wouldn't have been stuck like this. Thanks again!
Handsome, you helped a lot!
Thanks for helping!
