Replace the door handle on a Samsung washing machine
If you need to replace the door handle on your Samsung washing machine, you can handle the job yourself without calling a service center. This is because this repair simply requires removing the door, disassembling it, removing the damaged part, and then installing the new one. We'll explain in detail how to easily do this at home.
Separating the door from the machine
When replacing the door handle on your "home helper," it's best not to do it while it's suspended, as disassembling the door will take much more time and effort. That's why you should first remove the door from the frame, including the hinges. What should you do?
- Open the hatch door so that you have access to the hinge fasteners.
- Locate the mounting bolts near the door hinges.

- Remove them using an 8 mm wrench.
Some Samsung SM models have regular Phillips-head screws.
The door usually doesn't come off its hinges right away because it's held in place not only by the retaining bolts but also by special hooks. There's no need to remove them—just gently lift the hinges about 5 millimeters and then pull them toward you.
After these steps, the door will slide freely, and all you have to do is begin disassembling the element. When disassembling the door, be especially careful not to accidentally break or bend the hooks, which are made of fragile metal.
We are replacing a broken handle
Once the door is removed, you can immediately begin disassembling it and replacing the handle. How can you quickly change a door handle with minimal tools?
- First, unscrew the screw in the middle of the handle to remove the element from the groove.

- Next, you need to carefully pry the door halves around the entire circle with a flat-head screwdriver or similar tool to carefully separate the element into two parts.
This action must be performed with extreme caution, because if too much force is applied, the plastic element on the door may crack, which will require replacing not only the door handle, but the entire part, which will be much more expensive.
- Once the body is separated, carefully separate the halves and set aside the part without a handle.

- Use a screwdriver to pry up the handle retainer rod, then remove it with pliers.

- Next, you need to remove the door hook, and then the handle itself.
- Now you can install a new handle, previously purchased from the store, into the seat. It's best to purchase original spare parts rather than generic ones, so that they don't affect the performance of your "home assistant," and the component itself lasts for many years.

- Replace the door hook.
- Replace the handle retainer by inserting it into the groove with pliers and then gently pressing it in with an adjustable wrench or similar tool until it locks the handle securely in place.
- At this stage, you need to return the door frame to its place, fixing it around the entire circle until you hear clearly audible clicks.
- Finally, all that remains is to reinstall the door using our instructions in reverse order.

As you can see, this type of repair takes no more than 15 minutes, even for a novice. So if you need to replace a door handle, it's best to try it yourself first to save money. Follow our detailed instructions carefully to avoid accidentally damaging your Samsung washing machine. If you're unsure of your skills or are unable to replace the component, contact any service center, where such repairs are usually inexpensive.
