How to change the drain hose in an Electrolux washing machine?
Draining wastewater is a mandatory function in any automatic washing machine. It's crucial that this operation be performed according to the product's operating instructions. If the hose is defective, the drain pipe may fail. This could result in flooding, potentially affecting neighbors living on the lower floors. To prevent this from happening, replace the drain hose in advance if a serious defect is detected.
How to replace it yourself?
Before you begin, carefully study the connection diagram. Replacing the drain hose is easy and doesn't require a professional. The design of the Electrolux washing machine allows for quick and easy installation of a new drain hose. The free end of the drain hose connects to the sewer pipe. The other end is located inside the housing, screwed to the snail outlet.
To ensure the drain hose is securely attached, professionals use a special tee to connect the drain hose to the sewer pipe. If the sink trap has a free side outlet, professionals connect the drain hose to it. This allows for quick replacement of the drain hose if necessary.
To release the drainage sleeve, you must follow certain rules:
- unscrew or loosen the clamps;
- disconnect the Electrolux washing machine from the electrical network;
- close the tap responsible for liquid intake;
- empty the drainage system of any remaining water.
To remove any remaining liquid, open the door located on the front of the unit. Then carefully remove the debris filter (by turning it counterclockwise). To prevent water from spilling on the floor, place a small basin under the open hole.
When replacing the drain hose, be sure to have dry rags handy (water sometimes spills onto the floor). The drain hose can be easily disconnected by hand, as the connection point is easily accessible. To disconnect the drain hose from the snail, the washing machine Electrolux, must be placed on its side. This will give access to the pump and the entire snail.
Electrolux washing machines come in various configurations. Some are missing a bottom plate. Therefore, the drain hose replacement procedure may vary slightly. If there's a drip tray, unscrew the bolts securing it and remove the panel. Sometimes the drip tray is equipped with a special sensor to protect the system from possible leaks. In this case, disconnect the electrical wiring from it, proceeding with extreme caution. After these steps, access to the drain hose is clear. Use pliers to loosen the clamps holding the base of the hose, and remove the drain hose.
Don't forget to check the pump. If there's any dirt accumulated, be sure to remove it.
Install the new hose. It's important to tighten the clamp securely, but not too tightly, to avoid damaging the base of the hose. Connect the other end to the drain trap or directly to the sewer. The drain hose should be free of kinks and kinks after installation. After installation, plug in the machine and set it to the "Rinse" mode. This is necessary to check the hose's operation. No leaks are allowed.
Why do this?
During operation, an Electrolux washing machine draws water into the drum. After the wash cycle is complete, the liquid is discharged into the drain. The drain hose should always be in perfect condition. How can you tell if it needs replacing to prevent flooding in your apartment?
During inspection, if damage is discovered, immediate removal and replacement is required. Some car owners try to cover the damaged areas with duct tape or electrical tape. This helps for a short time (a day or two).
The drain hose may be clogged. To determine this, observe your Electrolux washing machine. Water drains much more slowly, and an unpleasant odor develops. Sometimes the hose needs to be replaced because it's not long enough. Don't try to extend the hose yourself. Too many joints will cause it to break quickly. It's much safer to purchase a new, longer hose and connect the machine to the drain.
When replacing a drain hose, it's crucial to select the correct length and the correct diameter for the drain hose. Make your calculations in advance and be sure to ensure the hose has an elbow, as per the instructions.
