How to change the drain hose in an Ariston washing machine?
If the drain hose starts leaking, there's no point in patching the hole. A new drain hose should be installed as soon as possible. This is also necessary if the element is clogged. In fact, you can replace it at home. To replace the drain hose in an Ariston washing machine, you'll have to get inside the machine. We'll discuss how to choose the right hose and walk through the detailed steps for the upcoming work.
How are we going to change it?
To disconnect the drain hose, you'll have to dig around inside the machine. Almost all Ariston washing machines have no bottom, making the element replacement process quicker. To carry out the work, you need to prepare a screwdriver, dry rags, a container with low sides and pliers.To remove the drain hose, follow these steps:
- turn off the power to the machine, disconnect the equipment from the sewer and water supply;
- remove the false panel behind which the trash filter is located;
- tilt the machine body towards the wall, place a container under the machine to collect water;
- Carefully unscrew the filter element. Keep in mind that water will leak out of the hole;
- move the washing machine away from the wall, cover the floor around it with dry rags;
- Tilt the washing machine body to access the components underneath. It is also possible to lay the machine on its right side;
- find the area where the hose is attached to the pump;
- loosen the clamp securing the tube;
- Disconnect the corrugated pipe from the washing machine body.

After this, you'll have the old drain hose in your hands. To install the new element, follow these steps:
- screw the hose onto the fitting and secure it with a clamp to the drain pump;
- make sure that the clamp securely fixes the “sleeve”;
- connect the hose to the machine body;
- return the washing machine to its original place;
- connect the free end of the hose to the sewer outlet.
After completing the work, be sure to run a test wash "empty" to ensure that the drain hose is properly installed.
Check the hose for leaks when the washer begins draining. If water droplets appear where the hose connects to the pump, end the cycle immediately and tighten the clamps.
Why change the sleeve?
During each wash, the drain hose circulates several dozen liters of wastewater. It's easy to calculate the strain the hose experiences even after a month of use. The hose is subject to mechanical stress, becomes clogged, and wears out. The need to replace the element may arise for a number of reasons.
- Insufficient or excessive length. Sometimes, the supplied hose doesn't fit the meter. There's no need to extend the hose by attaching additional tubes, nor should you shorten it. The ideal option is to immediately install a new elbow of the optimal length.
- Defect. If the sleeve was frequently pressed, creases could develop. Cracks also occur due to careless operation of the equipment.
- Blockage. In some cases, the drain becomes clogged with large debris, or deposits form on its walls. You can try clearing the cavity, but it's best to replace the tube immediately.

Sometimes rodents damage the drain hose. Don't try to repair it with improvised means. The cost of corrugated hose is reasonable, so it's best to buy a new hose and replace it.
We purchase components
The process of purchasing a drain hose does not present any difficulties. You can remove the old hose from the Ariston washing machine and ask the store manager to select a component of a similar diameter and length. In addition to the tube metering, it is also necessary to understand the type of corrugation:
- Classic – made of standard polypropylene. The length of this tube varies from 1 to 5 meters;
- Telescopic. The corrugated pipe is characterized by a compressed shape. It can be stretched approximately 3 times its original length;
- collapsible – consisting of several half-meter modules.
Even a non-professional can remove the hose. The main thing is to follow the instructions and be careful. It's also important to purchase a suitable replacement hose.
