The red lock light is on on my Indesit washing machine.

All Indesit washing machines have a lock indicator light on the dashboard. It typically glows red only during the wash cycle. Once the door is unlocked, the lock indicator light turns off. If the indicator light remains on continuously, something is wrong with the machine. In this case, a diagnostic is needed.

We check the machine according to the algorithm

First of all, it's recommended to eliminate any external factors that could affect the appliance. If the red light on your washing machine is on, make sure it's filling with water! In some cases, a failure to start a household appliance can be caused by low water pressure or interruptions in the central water supply.

In this case, the ECU receives a signal indicating that water cannot be filled. This, in turn, signals the need to turn on the lock indicator. If the "overheat protection system" does not work, the heating element and then the tank of the household appliance will catch fire.

Is your washing machine not washing? Check for power outages! The Achilles' heel of Indesit washing machines is that even the slightest power surge can cause a software glitch. Typically, fixing this "error" is easy:

• disconnect the machine from the power supply;
• wait 10 – 20 minutes;
• we connect equipment to the network;
• select the "Drain and spin" mode.

If the red lock light comes on again, the problem requires more serious consideration.

In most cases, problems with the lock indicator are resolved during the initial diagnostics. If this isn't the case, the appliance's components are tested. First, the mechanical components are checked, followed by an assessment of the equipment's electronics.

Level sensor and heater

Indesit washing machines may refuse to start because the pressure switch fails. If, after a period of time, it fails to signal that the tank is full, the machine pauses. The water supply stops, and an error message appears on the machine's display.

In this case, water meter diagnostics proceed from the simple to the complex. First, the possibility of mechanical damage to the tubes and housing is ruled out, then blockages are cleared, and finally, the quality of adjustment and contact reliability are assessed. If the pressure switch is damaged, it is replaced.

A continuously lit red lock light may also indicate a faulty heating element. Identifying this problem immediately can be difficult. The appliance continues to wash clothes even in cold water (this only increases the risk of fire and electrical leakage onto the appliance body). To determine whether the heating element is working properly, several steps must be taken.

1. Remove the back panel.
2. Inspect the wiring.
3. Perform resistance measurements.

If the final readings deviate from the norm, a new heating element should be purchased and installed. The old one should be discarded.

Electronics are to blame for everything

Malfunctions in Indesit washing machines can be caused by a faulty control board. Even if signals from the door lock, pressure switch, and heating element are sent to the control board, they are not recognized. There are many possible causes of electronic failure (moisture on contacts, power surges, software glitches, etc.).

What should you do in this case? Contact a service center for help! Trying to diagnose or repair the circuit board, or any other parts of an electronic appliance, on your own is too risky.
