Where to put detergent in a Gorenje washing machine
Today, almost every home has an automatic washing machine. This "home helper" saves a ton of time washing and, in some cases, even drying laundry. Despite the widespread use of automatic washing machines, many people don't use them correctly. Some tips are learned not from the machine's manual, but from a neighbor or friend. Sometimes, housewives don't even know basic details, such as how to properly add laundry detergent or conditioner. Let's look at how to fill the detergent drawer.
Location and purpose of branches
The Gorenje washing machine, like any other automatic washing machine, is equipped with a dispenser, commonly known as a powder receptacle. The dispenser has three compartments, each of which is designed for a specific type of detergent. It's not difficult to understand the purpose of the compartments - just look at the instructions.
All compartments of the powder compartment are marked; you can decipher the symbols using the instructions for the washing machine.
Besides the markings, the tray compartments also differ in size. Let's look at what each compartment is used for.
The section marked "I" is the medium-sized compartment located on the left. Add detergent or gel to this compartment only when the "Pre-Wash" program is running. During a normal cycle, it should remain empty.
The central compartment marked "II" is the largest section; detergent is drawn from it during the main wash cycle. This is where you should add detergent when activating the standard cleaning mode.
The right-hand container is the smallest and marked with a flower or snowflake symbol. The detergent in this compartment is washed out during the rinse cycle. Fabric softener, fabric conditioner, or fragrance is added here.
This is how the standard dispenser in a Gorenje washing machine works. On modern models, the dispenser may have one more compartment or different markings. In this case, it's best to avoid guessing and consult the machine's manual—it provides a detailed description of the dispenser drawer. Otherwise, you could reduce the quality of your wash if, for example, you pour detergent into the fabric softener dispenser.
Add the product as needed
It is extremely important to pour the washing powder into the drawer according to the markings. Incorrect distribution of detergents will not cause any harm to the machine, but the quality of washing clothes will be greatly affected. For example, clothes will be washed in clean water and then rinsed in soapy water.
Detergent is washed out of each compartment at different stages of the cycle.
The Gorenje washing machine's "intelligence" is programmed to dispense detergent from the detergent drawer in a strictly defined manner. The "I" compartment is only emptied during the pre-wash cycle, while the "*" compartment is emptied during the rinse cycle. This is why the following "confusion" can occur:
the powder will not mix with water if you pour it into section “I” and run the normal mode;
pre-wash will be performed without detergent if you pour gel into compartment “II” when activating the program of the same name;
The clothes will be rinsed in a soap solution if you add detergent to the "*" section.
Of course, mixing up the compartments won't cause any serious harm. The only damage will be to your clothes—they might not wash or rinse properly. Correcting the error is simple: restart the cycle, but this time properly distributing the detergent in the drawer. The price for this error will be wasted time and increased water and energy consumption. It's important to notice any traces of detergent on your laundry promptly and rinse your items. Otherwise, you could not only damage the fabric but also cause skin irritation.
If you don't use the dispenser?
Automatic washing machine manufacturers recommend that owners pour detergent into the washing machine only through the detergent drawer. However, some users ignore this advice and prefer to pour or pour the detergent directly into the drum. They explain this as a simple cost-saving measure—it's as if the concentrate will reach the clothes completely, without getting lost inside the machine.
Such savings are unjustified. A Gorenje washing machine dispenses detergent from the detergent drawer in measured doses, distributing it evenly throughout the cycle. If you pour the concentrate directly into the drum, the first time the water is refreshed, the soap solution will go down the drain, and your clothes will be washed in "empty" detergent.
It would be foolish to refuse the dispenser; it is better to use the washing machine as recommended by the manufacturer.
However, if the detergent drawer is broken, it's still possible to use the direct, drum-style method. When loading detergent this way, it's important to follow certain guidelines:
Do not sprinkle powder or pour gel directly onto fabric. This may damage the item.
add the product to the bottom of the empty drum, then immediately rinse off the granules with a glass of water;
Load laundry into the machine only after washing out the powder.
Even for force majeure situations, manufacturers have come up with a more preferable option. You can find special “mini-dispensers” on sale – closed plastic containers with holes. Fill the cup with detergent and place it in the drum. This will protect your clothes from the detergent's harmful effects.
Innovative laundry detergents
Today, stores offer special capsules, wipes, and tablets for washing that eliminate the need for a dispenser. According to the instructions on the packaging, they can be placed directly into the drum of your Gorenje washing machine.
Capsules are laundry detergent "sealed" in a soluble shell. Tablets are pressed powder. Wipes contain special components that help remove dirt from fabric fibers. All of these components are dispensed in measured doses during the cycle.
The only drawback of innovative laundry detergents is their high price. Capsules and tablets are pricey, but using them means you can forget about cleaning the dispenser tray.
