Designations on SM KandyThe secret to gentle washing lies in specially selected programs with adjustable water temperature, cycle duration, and spin strength. This is only possible if you know how to decipher all the icons on your washing machine's control panel. By deciphering the icons on your washing machine, you can forget about manual settings and start using the additional features of your machine. Most of the symbols are the same for all manufacturers, but Candy machines have their own secrets.

Icons for washing modes

To avoid trial and error when trying out available modes, it's recommended to consult the store manual or find the user guide on the Candy website. A more convenient and quicker way is to skip rummaging through boxes and searching for a specific model's technical description and instead familiarize yourself with the list of commonly used icons on Candy washing machines.

  1. Two drops and a plus sign on the left. This stands for "Aqua Plus" and signifies an additional rinse using a larger volume of water. Thanks to intensive washing, clothes are cleaned of soapy substances and odors, which is important when washing children's clothes and clothes of allergy sufferers. Increases washing time by an average of half an hour.
  2. A T-shirt with black stains. The "Intensive Wash" cycle is essential for washing heavily soiled items. High temperatures, a long cycle, and maximum spin speed remove even the most stubborn stains without leaving a trace.
  3. The clock and triangle on the right indicate the "Delayed Start" function, which allows you to set the cycle to start automatically throughout the day.
  4. A basin and a watering can. This involves a standard 40-minute rinse. Cycle time may vary.

  5. A basin and the letter "P." This is the "Prewash" program, a more effective alternative to hand soaking. It's selected for heavily soiled laundry and complements the main program.
  6. Three Balls of Wool. This program is ideal for washing wool and cashmere items. It features a slow drum rotation and lasts approximately 60 minutes.
  7. Taz and "32." A type of express wash that lasts exactly 32 minutes at a standard 30 degrees.
  8. Cloud and Downward Arrow. This delicate wash cycle is designed specifically for cleaning linen and cotton. For impeccable results, the water is heated to 90°C, and the entire cycle lasts from 70 to 170 minutes.

These symbols are standard and appear on the front panel of every Candy washing machine. However, some brands have less common symbols. These include several of the Italian manufacturer's most popular models.

Rare badges

The models mentioned require additional explanation, as some modes are indicated by non-standard images. Let's look at the meaning of each icon using specific examples. For example, the Candy Aquamatic 2D1140-07 offers the following special modes:

  1. Snowflake. This feature turns off the water heating, which is often necessary for fabrics not designed for hot washing. It lasts 50 minutes and easily replaces delicate hand washing.
  2. The word "Sport" is used for sportswear and footwear and lasts 70 minutes.
  3. The number "44" with an apostrophe. Speed wash at 30 degrees for 44 minutes.
  4. The number "32" with an apostrophe. Similar to the previous express wash with a duration of 32 minutes.

The Candy Aqua 104D2-07, in addition to the modes discussed above, has only one special mode, designated "M&W." The full abbreviation is "Mix and Wash System." This program allows you to wash different types of fabric in one cycle, focusing only on color. The Candy CS4 1071DB1/2 model also has rare buttons.

  1. The "SUPER R" sign means "Super Wash"—a 50-minute reduction in the duration of any previously selected program.
  2. Basin and jet from above. Super rinse, similar to the Aqua Plus mode.
  3. Downward jet. A rinse variation with basic settings (cycle end and half-hour duration).
  4. A coil, a sprayer, and drops. This system conditions, scents, and softens fabrics.
  5. Triangle and "CL". A special program designed to remove organic contaminants.
  6. Letter "Z". Exclusion from the drain function loop.

By memorizing the described panel button layouts on Candy machines, you can make your laundry easier, fight stains more effectively, and save water and energy. Before starting the machine, it's recommended to familiarize yourself with the main button icons. There are some nuances here, too.

Main button icons

SM Candy start buttonIn addition to the mode switch, there are main buttons, which also have labels. Candy typically has no more than two of these buttons, and they are labeled with the same symbols found on all household appliances. It's easy to get confused, but you should learn about these buttons first, as they'll be used most often.

You can pause a cycle at any stage of the wash cycle using the button with a triangle and two parallel bars. The button is called "Start/Pause" and is located in the center of the control panel or slightly off-center to the right.

The unit can be switched off in one of two ways: by pressing the “ON/OFF” button or by rotating the program selector to the “OFF” mark.

Before starting a wash, it's important to familiarize yourself with your washing machine's capabilities and find the optimal cycle for your laundry. Candy machine owners no longer face this problem—the detailed descriptions of the main icons and images above eliminate any doubts or confusion.
